Biography

Ken Menard - Songwriter / Singer
Born in the State of Connecticut in 1966, he is the youngest of five children. Ken was always interested in music and many times would dance around the house as a baby, loose his balance and fall into things.
Learning to play the piano at the age of eight; self taught by an organ template that stood up on the keyboard to mark out the chords. Ken would play songs and sing for family and friends. It wasn't until the late 70's when he would learn how to play a guitar, another self taught instrument.
Ken used to watch Hee-Haw all the time and enjoyed when Buck Owens would come on to play. In the late 80's, Ken would listen to Keith Whitley, Clint Black, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, and just adored Lorrie Morgan.
Ken starting writing songs in the mid 1980's. Most of the songs were personal stories of his life, friends, or other members in his family. In 1990, Ken hired Larry Lee from the Nashville Song Plugger Association to represent his music to other artists. Several very popular recording artists heard his songs, but Ken assumes the demo tapes were of very poor quality and not much happened with them. Larry Lee passed away in 2001 and Ken did not have any presence in Nashville for ten years. Now he is making his comeback through the Internet, his contacts, and local venues.
Although all of his songs are demos, Ken would like to have them recorded professionally in a studio someday. Until that time, Ken uses a Zoom R8 Mixer, plays his 12-String, 6-String, Electric or Grand Piano, while singing on individual tracks. Afterwards, all the tracks are combined into his finished demo.

Starting Over

Written By: Ken Menard

Starting over again, letting go of my pride
Venture out with myself, and take it in stride
No more headaches or drama, just go where life leads
And catch up with my dreams, put my trust back in me

The white car still drives well, doesn't steer like before
And the scenery has changed, no voluptuous bores
The mountains are peaceful, no more rudeness around
I'm a man on a mission, and you can't bring me down

I'm building a game now, played with more that just four
Gonna reach new horizons, gonna open some doors
Wind blows the treetops, they're swaying with ease
And the stress is long gone, as the sun surrounds me

Starting over again, letting go of my pride
Venture out with myself, and take it in stride
No more headaches or drama, just go where life leads
And catch up with my dreams, put my trust back in me

I dine all alone, and try to make friends
My hair is quite seasoned, and the days never end
That mirror reflects me, though the image has changed
I'm still a kid on the inside, gonna play once again

I'll go where life takes me, not knowing what's in store
And be honest to myself, unlike once before
Gonna carry myself proudly, not with blemish or disgrace
I'm starting all over, and I'll have fun today

Starting over again, letting go of my pride
Venture out with myself, and take it in stride
No more headaches or drama, just go where life leads
And catch up with my dreams, put my trust back in me

No more headaches or drama, just go where life leads
And catch up with my dreams, put my trust back in me

Life Is A Gamble

Written By: Ken Menard

When I woke up this morning, I didn't find you there
You must have left in a hurry, you didn't seem to care
But your eyes seemed dry, before you went away
Now what's happened to us, And why won't you stay

I remember last Wednesday, when you looked at me
I arrived home real late, 'cause I drank some that day
Then you started in, and yelled out some names
But now I'm getting tired, of your cheap little games

'Cause life is a gamble, everyone's dealt some cards
And you play your best at it, as you shoot for the stars
Now I don't trust a sure thing, but I'll take what I can
No I ain't so perfect, never said that I am

Well who is it now, A young one I bet
The kind with those lines, someone you just met
Now I hope that you're happy, I mean - being so free
But honey you know, just how you treated me

'Cause life is a gamble, everyone's dealt their cards
And you play you best as it, as you're searching for the stars
Now I don't trust a sure thing, but I'll take what I can
No I ain't so perfect, never said that I am

No I ain't so perfect, never said that I am

I Won't Give It Another Try

Written By: Ken Menard

Our love was only six months old
When all these things started to unfold
And you started doubting me
Sometimes I would arrive home late
You assume that I was on a date
'Cause accusing me was all you did

And a call came in at quarter 'till three
Believe me darling it wasn't for me
It was your friend on the line
While you talked with him I could see
You wanted me to get up and leave
And go get something to drink

But now there's one less tear I'm crying
And one less drink I'm buying
'Cause I left and bid you goodbye
You may think that I ain't worth the time
But sweetie you ain't worth a dime
And I won't stay and give it another try

Now you call and say you apologize
But I see an old flame in your eyes
And you don't really want me back
What you need now is a friend to hold
And I'm sorry darling if I seem cold
But life is full of some miseries

But now there's one less tear I'm crying
And one less drink I'm buying
'Cause I left and bid you goodbye
You may think that I ain't worth the time
But sweetie you ain't worth a dime
And I won't stay and give it another try

You may think that I ain't worth the time
But sweetie you ain't worth a dime
And I won't stay and give it another try
