Kennebec has poured onto the scene with unexpected gravity to stick on radio charts. Shaped with a variety of influences from the Chili Peppers to Dream Theatre and even Matchbox 20, Kennebec mixes classic rock, 80's metal, and alternative flavorings. They are five musicians Rick Gilbreath (Lead Guitar), Keith Hovis (Guitars), Nate Baier (Vocals), Jason Roberts (Bass), and Matt Brown (Drums), backed by a scattered but loyal sampling of fans from across the nation, and powered by internet radio, live performances, and of course, MySpace. Their mission is to bring people vision through their music... a solid reason and genuine love that promotes radical community that grows by helping one another. "In our music and in our lives, we are constantly searching for something, it's in the journey. It's like Einstein said, ‘the most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It's the source of all true art.'” It's in Christ that the answers to life's many mysteries are found.

"For us, we want to be real. A lot of times in traditional services, people are just playing a game," says an unshaven Nate Baier, the 27-year-old frontman for Kennebec.
As a child, Baier worshiped in the buttoned-down Antioch Bible Baptist Church in Kansas City, Mo., where his father is senior pastor. He is inspired by MTV-era bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Matchbox Twenty, but says young people can connect to music that does not emphasize sinful lyrics and libido-driven music videos.
Kennebec's renditions of "Deliver Me" and "We Fall Down" have all the instrumental makings of hard-rocking ballads, but with wholesome, devotional lyrics.

Keith Hovis and Nate Baier, began the new millennium playing music with a college ministry and found that music was the ultimate form of communication.Rick Gilbreath joined the band lending his ripping leads. Matt Brown joined the band, bringing progressive perspective, rhythm and percussion. And Kennebec was complete when Adam Ormond followed bringing the bass line, groove and vocals.
The members of Kennebec have dedicated their lives to music and ministry. Keith explained: "In our music and in our lives, we are constantly searching for something, it's in the journey. Its like Einstein said, 'the most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It's the source of all true art.' And it's in Christ that we find the answers to life's many mysteries." Kennebec's vision is to use their music to give people a vision, a reason, and a love that promotes a radical community, one that grows by helping one another.
Kennebec has performed with acts such as Relient K , Pillar , The Newsboys and many others and performed at Concerts, Festivals (including Ichthus, Cornerstone Florida, Durango Youth Fest, Nehemiah Festival), various youth events, and churches all across the United States since 2003.
Kennebec released their first full-length CD Rise Produced by Barry Blair the former Audio Adrenaline song writer and guitarist and producer (Bleach, Poor Mans Riches, Candle Fuse) in January 2007(Tone Box Records). Kennebec is represented by Sinless City Productions and Tone Box Records.
Kennebec was chosen for: New Artist Search Competition (Nashville) and featured on the NASC CD project released in July of 2003, a finalist for Jesus-fest 2004,to represent Mad Dog Records showcase at Ichthus May 2005, performed at the Indie Community GMA Showcase in Nashville, April 2007 and the Charis Core GMA Showcase April 2007.
Kennebec was listed as the #4 hard rock band at myCCM, in August 2007 in CCM and was listed with the top 100 myCCM bands and artists in CCM’s November 2007 issue.
