"Joey BadA$$ ‘B4.DA.$$’ Tour Review"

The 3rd person to hit the stage is a young artist by the name of Kenny Gee, this guy is a 17 year old who has been blowing up in Austin, Texas. We saw him first at the Ty Dolla $ign show, then we saw him during this event, then he is opening for Ab Soul in a few weeks. I was extremely impressed with the show that Kenny Gee put on, I didn’t know any of his music before the show, but I honestly had to check out his jams after the show he put on. I am glad to see someone with so much energy and so much heart on stage. I got a brief second to talk to Kenny Gee after his set, and from what I learned, he has a very bright future in front of him. I can’t wait to see him kill the stage again during his set for the Ab Soul show. - boss

"Kenny Gees Hieroglyphics is an Ambitious Debut"

"Kenny Gee is a hyper-ambitious kid with a lot of talent and a lot of potential who doesn’t seem to give much of a shit about fitting in with any Austin sound, instead swearing by the mantra “I gotta be the hardest working young man in my city.” Gee isn’t a household name in the city yet, but on his debut Hieroglyphics, he’s making a big leap towards that status, quietly creating some of the most well-crafted songs in the scene while working as hard as he can to be the success he wants to be." - Nick Hanover

"At only 17 he sees the scrolls and the symbols and he’s given us his own translation. If he keeps his ear as sharp as it is, the future will provide exciting new linguistics in hip-hop from Kenny Gee." - Rafael Gaitan

"Kenny Gee: The King Teen"

Teenagers in Hip Hop is nothing new. We’ve seen the likes of Kriss Kross, Lil Bow Wow, Li Romeo, Soulja Boy, and the list goes on and on. Rap fans always pose the question for teen rappers “can they still be relevant and adapt when they are no longer a kid?” Well we’ve seen quite a few be successful after their bubble gum rap days. Today though we have kids who are a lot more advanced in life than we were if you know what I mean. You have youngsters like the GBE camp out in Chicago, Chief Keef, Lil Durk, Lil Reese, and Fredro Santana, who you would think are 25yr old street wise thugs, but they are no more that 19yrs old. You have 12yr old Chicago rapper Lil Mouse who stirred controversy with his single “Get Smoked.”

Well here in Austin we have our own teen rappers who talk about the streets, and things teenagers do like party, school, all that good stuff. No teen rapper in Austin is more popular than 16yr old Kenny Gee. This kid has dubbed himself “The Best Rapper In Austin.” Other teen rappers did not take kindly to that. He was just engaged in a lyrical sparring match on wax with Kid Flame another teenage rapper in Austin. Before that incident there were already other rappers coming at Kenny. The kid is clearly causing a stir in the city, and with his debut mixtape “Gold Pyramid” still out and being pushed things are steadily progressing for the young emcee.

Read what Kenny Gee had to say to us when we sat down with him.

FPATX: Looking back on the year so far, how do you feel about your progress so far?

Kenny Gee: This year, I' feel like I put in a lot work. I finally dropped my Mixtape Gold Pyramid' and I plan to put out an new project this year called "Vintage America" Seems like my city is starting to really support me.

FPATX: With the Internet having everyone feeling like they're famous, what do you do to keep yourself from buying into the hype?

Kenny Gee: I just stay chill. The whole hype thing isn't for me. I don't live behind a laptop or phone I'm really out here in these streets.

FPATX: When you're not making music what do you spend your time doing?

Kenny Gee: SchoolWork ! If I'm not on my job at school there is no music... So I gotta stay on top of that. Also church , gotta keep god first.

FPATX: I know when it comes to chasing your dreams there are people who ride with you and people who not as supportive as can be. Who are some of the people that motivate you to keep it pushing with the music, and does your family support you?

Kenny Gee: My family supports me in a cool laied back way. The people who most push me to work harder is my haters. I gotta keep a couple of them...

FPATX: Do you ever get discouraged to give up on the music?

Kenny Gee: Never.

FPATX: What can we expect from you in the near future?
