Bio

Ask anyone who has seen Ken Stead perform and they will attest that this is an emerging talent with a very bright future. Growing up in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Ken carried a passion for sports until one day when a chance audition landed him a spot singing in his elementary school choir. It was there that he began a love of music that eventually blossomed into an opportunity to sing in the Broadway musical 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat'. The experience left an impassioned and indelible mark on his musical soul. Inspired, he went on to lead a musical church group for 6 years from the piano, and began learning to arrange music while exploring musical dynamics. The band is still together today and plays acoustic alternative music under the name 'Crowded City Skyline'. In the summer of 2003 Ken was in awe watching Eric Bibb perform at the Edmonton Folk Festival. It inspired the combination of the spiritual and the musical realms to connect within Ken's writing ability. Ken's genuine and intuitive sensitivity is reflected in the songs he writes of people and their stories. Through his music you will hear deeply rooted spiritual journeys which gift his listening audience with a glimpse of the divine love we all thought wasn't possible. The songs Ken crafts are soulful, reflective and life affirming. His lyrics create images and feelings that touch his listeners hearts. His delivery is unpretentious and true. His music, combined with a voice that has depth and range, makes this recording an unforgettable and inspirational listening journey. Ken’s solo musical journey began in Edmonton learning the different aspects of the music industry. He began performing open mics every week at, what he would call the best open mic in Canada, Hulbert’s (http://hulberts.ca/portal/). Ken had 30 gigs under his belt within the 5 months he began performing in Edmonton. He learned the all important aspect of music within a community and the community within music. Ken developed his own identity within his performance and honed in on his presentation with the help of local radio host Rhea March (CKUA-www.ckua.org). In the meantime, Ken unbelievably had met the love of his life in an internet chat room. As time went by he decided he couldn’t live without his love Kim and asked her to marry him. Ken left his musical career in Edmonton and now resides in Wyoming, Michigan where he continues to develop his musical career writing new songs of life’s journeys including love and adventure.
