WWW.KENTABERLEDRUMS.COM Kent Aberle is a professional drummer from Atlanta, Ga, but this latest tattoo in Kent’s rhythm career is just that – one groove in a life-long rhythm dedicated to drumming. By the time he was 10 years old, Kent was sitting in for local drummers during practice sessions in his hometown of Fairbury, Illinois. As older band members joked about the kid on drums, word spread that Kent could hold a decent beat and he was asked to play everything from country to rock and even some jazz.

At 19 he joined the band Cherry Vallance, who earned critical acclaim in national publications and airplay on both coasts with their debut CD Everything but Stringbeans.

Two years later, with a full bag of tricks, Kent grew restless and wanted to experiment with other sounds. He was invited to join Dr. Wu, one of the hottest bands in the Midwest. With Dr. Wu, Kent honed his groove-ability with blends of R&B, Soul, Funk and Rock. From the local roadhouse to Puerto Rico, Kent played high profile shows like the Bloomington Gold Corvette Show, The Preakness, Decatur Celebration and many other festivals. In addition to drumming disco, funk, rock and new wave for the showband Poprocks ( from 2000 to 2002 and tapping out the undulating rhythms of the jazz-funk trio The New Brew, he’s performed with The Shirelles, The Blues Brothers Tribute Band featuring Snake & Dogwood from Las Vegas, as well as Rock’N Roll Hall of Famers Sam Moore, Gene Chandler, and the Tokens.

Since residing in Atlanta, Kent has performed all styles of music from Jazz to Metal, from the club scene to the church service. Kent is a prolific session player at local studios and the first call drummer for Atlanta’s top music districts. He is also available for private drum lessons. Kent’s a busy percussionist, but his love for his craft expands beyond the boundaries of work and gigs. With a strong belief in the power of rhythm to shape lives, he frequently donates his talent to high school band clinics.

Kent endorses Vic Firth drumsticks, Meinl Cymbals and Percussion, Pork Pie Drums, and The Grip Peddler. Kent also uses DW Pedals and Hardware, and Aquarian drumheads.
