It could have been me

It Could Have Been Me
Lyrics & music by Ken Warner

Now your party’s over
The dishes lie on the sofa
Your pet cat even looks drunk
And your friends are far from sober
They’re lying on the floor singing Loch Lomond
Solo

Late for work at ten,
As you ring that old boss again
He tells you that you’re a liar
And that you should retire
From the only job that you’ve known
As you think
Chorus
It’s just the perfect day yeah
It’s just the perfect day
It’s just the perfect day
It’s just the perfect day

It could have been me
But hey I’m glad it was you
It could have been anybody
Say now what you gonna do?
When you’re friends have deserted you
You feel like
Solo

Now your party’s over
As you attempt to act quite sober
Repeat chorus

Through the long night

Through The Long Night

Lyrics & music by Ken Warner

Sometimes you can’t find a reason, you just act strange
Sometimes you can’t find the answers
When someone calls out your name
Sometimes you’re walking in rain you can’t see
When the answer could be staring you blind
And all you’ve got to do is open your mind

A little bit of understanding, right from wrong
I held your hand in the desert when you were lost and all alone
And lonely times did I sail through with you by my side
But I just couldn’t open my eyes

Chorus
Now I’d spend the long night with you
I’d spend the long night alone with you
I’d spend the long night if I had my own choice
I’d spend the long, long night with you
Solo

Now something inside of you is breaking
You feel lonely when the lights go down
And everybody here is just a stranger to you
Thieves that have stolen your soul
And lonely times did I sail through with you by my side
But I just couldn’t open my eyes

Now I’d spend the long night with you
I’d spend the long night alone with you
I’d spend the long night.
I’d make it just so right
I’d spend the long, long night with you.

Price of time

Written By: Ken Warner

Price of Time
Lyrics & music by Ken Warner

Weary from your work
At the end of the day
You come in from the cold
With your stories unknown
The pint soothes your bones
And the fire in your heart
And you’ll never be lonely
With the friends that you know

You wandered out in the world,
You travelled far from your town
The simple things made you smile
And you laughed and you frowned
Now as the day draws to close
You can kick off your shoes
Relax for a while
And sing out your tune
Chorus
You’ve got to lay down your worries
Leave them behind
You can’t buy happiness
Said a good friend of mine
So soak in the atmosphere
Drown in the laughter
Share all your dreams
For the price, the price of your time

I remember it all
Back when I was young
Running in the fields
Now they have turned into stone
And they called me the fool
But I learned about love
And what it can teach you

You don’t have to be rich
You’ve got it all here inside
So show everyone
You’ve got nothing to hide

Repeat chorus

The gravy train

Written By: Ken Warner

The Gravy Train

Lyrics & music Ken Warner

After the night you feel so cold
Freezing and shaking to the bone
Love doesn’t mean anything
When the wolves howl at your door

You wake in a state of fright
Bad dreams from lovers you don’t even know
How many times do you sell yourself
Trying to forget this sordid show

Every day feels like a mistake
Now you’ve had all you can take
Now you’ve had all that you can take

Chorus
You’re waiting for the gravy train to come along
Waiting for the gravy train before you get sold

The highest bid won the prize
The lucky lover with a face you despise
He’ll take you to the boulevard of his dreams
Another nightmare you won’t believe
Then it’s time to go, feeling so low
Shattered and broken and choking on extremes

Another throw of the dice
Might take your mind off the sorrow
Just one more drink and maybe you’ll forget
That you’re here, that you’re here

You’re waiting for the gravy train to come along
Waiting for the gravy train to come along now
You’re waiting for the gravy train
With it’s bright big barrels of gold
You’re waiting for the gravy train
Before you get old

Da da da da da da da da dah dah do…

Carry me home

Written By: Ken Warner

Carry Me Home
Lyrics & music by Ken Warner

When everything is gone and the seasons carry on
Like the wind you carry me, back where I belong
Like the bird that sweeps the sea, it’s like poetry
Drifting through the sky above, you can fly with me
When the rain comes down in a cloud of tears
You can shelter me from all of my fears and I know
Chorus
Sometimes it’s hard, sometimes it burns my soul
That’s when I need you to carry me home

I have searched for a lifetime, now I can say
When I thought I’d lost it all everything fell into place
I’ve been looking through a window staring at the sun
Now I realize, your love goes on and on
And when the rain comes down in a cloud of tears
You can shelter me, from all of my fears and I know

Chorus
Sometimes it’s hard, sometimes it burns my soul
That’s when I need you to carry me home
Sometimes it’s hard, sometimes it burns my soul
That’s when I need you to carry me

When your love has crossed the border
And you feel there is no end
To the love that she can give you over and over again
Chorus
Sometimes it’s hard, sometimes it burns my soul
That’s when I need you to carry me home
Sometimes it’s hard, sometimes it burns my soul
That’s when I need you to carry me home
Sometimes it’s hard, sometimes it burns my soul
That’s when I need you to carry me home

Rescue me

Written By: Ken Warner

Rescue Me

Lyrics & music by Ken Warner

Shadows fall before you as you make your way home
Through the long distance forest
The rustling of the leaves is all that you hear
As your mind races to a fantasy
The maiden in the wood will be your temptress
Someone to comfort you, to quench your lust
But you don't really need this illusion
‘Cause beyond the gates is someone real and she's calling

Chorus
Rescue me let me be the only one
Rescue me let me know your love lives on
Rescue me let me be the only one
Rescue me let me know your love lives on

So on you journey and you smile
And your dream slowly fades
She will always be there to offer you her charm
But you could never be the one
'Cause you're older now and wiser
And your steady thinking is gonna get you there
You don't really need this illusion
Cause beyond the gates is someone who loves you
And she's callin’

Chorus
Rescue me let me be the only one
Rescue me let me know your love lives on
Rescue me let me be the only one
Rescue me let me know your love lives on
On and on and on rescue
Won’t you rescue me she’s calling
Rescue me let me be the only one
Rescue me let me know your love lives on hey

Stranger

Stranger

Lyrics & music by Ken Warner

Standing in the cold and the rain
Looks like the night will never end
I wrote the script to this play
And I don’t even know the game
But this affair we’ll have won’t go wrong

You played your part and I admired the act
No need to change a thing you’re the best I’ve ever seen
The atmosphere will be just right
Warm ambience under this beautiful moonlight
And this stranger in this foreign shore
Is gonna love you even more, hey can’t you see

Chorus
I need you now to fill this empty space
Can’t you see I need you now ‘till the early morning
When the light steals the night

Just a few words from the language of love
Will tell the story that should be told or
I could go back to what I know
And cut this scene and get on with the show
But this stranger in this foreign shore
Will love you even more, can’t you see

Chorus
I need you now to fill this empty space
Can’t you see I need you now ‘till the early morning
When the light steals the night

I need you now, can’t you see
I need you now, can’t you see
I need you now ‘till the early morning
When the light steals the night

Candlelight dinner for 2

Written By: Ken Warner

Candlelight Dinner For 2
Lyrics & music by Ken Warner

So you stopped to say hello
And wished me all the luck in the world
I just smiled with vacant eyes
Like a movie scene but how could it be
I’m not the actor, I can’t play this part
This is real she has the key to my heart
Chorus
Romance would be so fine
Romance rose’s & wine
Candlelight dinner by the fireside
Oh could we spend some time

So I really don’t know where I’m going
Or what’s the reason I’m even here
There’s a romantic devil in you I know
Waiting to steal this one man show
Maybe it’s all in my dreams
Maybe somehow you could be right for me
Chorus

Now I don’t want to fall for anyone
Hey maybe it’s crazy but you could love me more
And I can feel the fire in your eyes
It’s sending me love, sending me love
Chorus

Oh romance, roses all the time
A good lover by my side
Candlelight dinner, a good bottle of wine
Mmm such a lady, a beautiful woman

And it’s such romance
Such romance, roses all the time
It’s such romance
Roses all the time
Oh it’s such romance

It´s easier

Written By: Ken Warner

It’s Easier
Lyrics & music by Ken Warner

I’m wide open, I’m just learning all the time
I really got to know you then you said goodbye
It’s better now not to live the lie
I’ll give myself a chance, take it easy for a while
Reality kicks in that we won’t ever meet again
Not even as friends, let alone lovers
When it’s all through I’ll take your personality
And your kindness will stay within me
Chorus
It’s easier to act the way I do
It’s easier not to say I love you
But it’s hard to let you go
Yes it’s hard to let you go

So many years we took the good times with the bad
We shared all our thoughts and lived in a fairytale land
When I’m alone my mind wanders to that place
The forest behind the house, the boat on the lake
Feels like only yesterday I kissed your face
Chorus
It’s easier to act the way I do
And it’s easier not to say I love you
But it’s hard to let you go
Yes it’s hard to let you go
Yes it’s hard to let you go

Doctor´s surgery

Written By: Ken Warner

Doctor’s Surgery
Lyrics & music by Ken Warner

The people came and the fools left
With open pockets and empty minds
They needed psycho analysis
Instead of mind paralysis
So they came to the doctor for a real good time

You don’t need a prescription, hey
The first time is always free
Just say the word and you’ll be mine
And in a little while
I’ll be doing time
Chorus
The doctor’s surgery, everyone feels free
The cynics blow their mind
For their last nickel and a dime

Oh yeah, it’s five to nine again as I watch my best friend
Concealing his fix in the corner
Shady eyes as he smiles in my view
I turn away and continue with my tune
Wishing there was something
Wishing there was something I could do
Chorus
The doctor’s surgery where everyone feels free
The cynics blow their mind
For their last nickel and a dime
