The wait is over for those who’ve been waiting to see what acoustic teen queen Kenzie Joy was going to do next. At the ripe age of 14, her sophomore album Why Not drops this weekend with 10 new original tracks. The new tunes show off Kenzie’s maturing talent vocally, instrumentally, and lyrically. (Talk about a triple threat.)
Miss Joy has definitely been fine-tuning the raw talent she surprised us all with last year. For now, she has settled somewhere between the lush chanteuse style of Norah Jones (see Match Made) and the quirky risk-taking of Regina Spektor (check out the unique vocal stylings in Saturday Night).
If you’re a fan of this folk star on the rise, or if you haven’t heard her yet, don’t miss her CD release concert at the Mabel Tainter Theatre on Friday, March 25. Bio
Hi my name is Kenzie Joy. I am a fifteen year old singer/ songwriter, and am enjoying the beginning of my long musical journey. I first picked up a guitar at thirteen and started writing songs immediatly! I have two cds out to date and am working on the third right now. One of my newest songs "Charming" is uploaded in the video area and I would love it if you took a moment to watch.
My current influences are Adele and Norah Jones. My songs transend generations so my fans range in age from teenagers to baby boomers.
I play live shows regionally on a regular basis and have built a fan base with my dedication, hard work, self promotion and the love of music!
My goal is to get signed and travel the world sharing my music with everybody who likes it!
