Opening Up to Kerrianne
Female Artist of the Year Kerrianne Cox

Multi award-winning singer/songwriter Kerrianne Cox is proving to be one of Australia’s premier musicians and her recent Deadly for 2001 Female Artist of the Year is confirmation of this.

At just 24 years of age Kerrianne is steadily building a national and international profile. Her songs are very personal affairs with lyrics emerging from her own life experiences, touching on issues as diverse as love, family life and her strong connection to the land…

KERRIANNE COX
Opening
Australian performer Kerrianne Cox writes and sings about family. And about identity. And about home. …Her second album, Opening, is a mixture of country, rock, blues and folk. …Kerrianne Cox’s Opening is personal, yet universal and is a fine vehicle for exploring issues relating to family, identity and home.
- Sue Barrett

"Potomac News - Aug 2003"

Now and then throughout the show, Cox would stomp her feet to the music, creating a tribal beat that worked just as well as any modern instrument would. Reminiscent of singer-songwriter Tracy Chapman, Cox's strong vocals alternated from catchy and upbeat to soothing and mellow -- but always beautiful. - Tracy Bell

"Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras"

...the theatre and music program is "a fantastic and eclectic expression of a very diverse community"...Cox is an indigenous singer, a complete star, just sensational.
Feb 2003 - Luke Cutler

"Goolarri Media Enterprises online feature"

With producers like ABC Youth Radio Triple J tugging on her sleeves to write some mainstream songs, Cox is not far off becoming a household name, both Nationally and Internationally. She is madly writing away on a new album that she hopes will smash the marketplace to smithereens.

Cox is all set to rock the USA, Canada and South Africa with one final send off concert in her home town of Broome. Vivacious, warm, fiercely independent and strong-minded, she isn't going to let any fears, or unhappy moments in the past weigh her down. She hopes she is a strong role model for people to "get out there and be who you want to be!"

July 2003 - Rachel Mounsey
