Bio

Kerry Wing is an up-and-coming soulful musical artist from San Francisco. His songs are a unique collage of experimental Soul, Folk, Indie, and Rock with a Reggae/Hip Hop-esque feeling as a foundation. The name Kerry Wing also represents an energetic six piece live band; with Pat Schickling (bass), Chris McGrew (Drums), Laela Peterson-Stolen (Viola/Vocals), Jason Cirimele (guitar) and Boris Burtin (Keys).
Kerry was born at home in Portola Valley, California in '83 to a very musical family. Before he learned how to talk, he would hum melodies. By the age of 8 he started his first band and began performing. In the twenty years since he has been prolifically writing and performing music locally and around the world as a solo artists and in many different bands as well. Kerry has played his music throughout the USA/Hawaii, Europe, Central/South America, India and North Africa, at music festivals, gatherings, major nightclubs, cafes, churches, parties, wakes, weddings, universities, and on the streets.
In his late teens, upon returning from a journey in Brazil, and deeply touched by the musical culture of the Bahian coast, he formed the band Pacific Vibrations. With the deep yet catchy songs he started writing, and the bands energetic performances, it didn’t take long before the band started building a fan base. In 2003 Kerry met and became friends with the late Mikey Dread (reggae singer/producer who also worked with The Clash). He went on to open up for Mikey at many concerts.
After years with the band, yearning to really find his own unique voice and sound, Kerry moved on and traveled India for a year; writing music and soul searching. After returning, and falling deeply in and out of love, he started composing music and lyrics from a different place in himself. He began emerging as a unique artist and was asked to play as a featured songwriter in May 2011 at Yoshi's in SF. Kerry reached #14 on Reverberation’s charts for San Francisco Singer/songwriters in February 2012. He has opened for many artists including Steel Pulse, Burning Spear, Sizzla, Beenie Man, Long Beach Short Bus (members of Sublime), The Coasters, and Luciano to name a few. Kerry has performed at venues such as Slim's, Cafe du Nord, Elbo Room, The Catalyst, Club Fox, The Biltmore, Caesars, Reggae In The Park, UC Davis' Whole Earth, Monterey Bay Reggae, and Mt Shasta World Music.
His debut album, Bio-Electric Love, will be coming out in April 2012 on his new indie label Warrior Monk Records. The album is an anticipated 11 song record of heartfelt and soul searching lyrics with groove oriented orchestrations of electronic and acoustic instruments which was recorded in a mix of analogue and digital mediums.
