"Chatterton's Kevin Aldridge Going Solo"

Although he'll be on his own onstage, he assembled quite the backing band in the studio: Don Cento on guitars, Adam Odor on bass (he also engineered and is mixing the record) and Kenny Smith on drums, with Scott Davis pitching on several instruments as well as producing the album. So while Chatterton takes a breather, Aldridge, arguably one of Fort Worth's finest songsmiths, will get an opportunity to put his craft front and center. That should make for one of the year's great listening experiences. - dfw.com

"Chatterton's Aldridge goes solo"

"Former Fort Worthians who were in Chatterton and Woodeye and now live in Austin, Davis and Smith form the core of the backing band for troubadour Hayes Carll. Aldridge will lay down tracks at Cedar Creek Recording, where The Orbans did their divine new album, When We Were Wild." - Fort Worth Weekly

"Austin: Kevin Aldridge @ Karma Lounge"

"Frontman Kevin Aldridge’s lyrics sometimes deal with heavy burdens of the heart, but it sure does make for some great song writing. They also incorporate organs, slide guitars, and passion in their songs." - The Fader

Bio

As the song says, “breaking up is hard to do,” which is probably why Kevin Aldridge chose to put Chatterton, the Fort Worth-based roots rock outfit he fronted on indefinite hiatus, rather than ending it altogether. About five years into Chatterton’s run, the band’s shows became less frequent, and Kevin opted to book more and more solo performances. The acoustic gigs drove him to write songs better suited for the more intimate format, and soon he had an album’s worth of new material. After Chatterton disbanded, he booked recording sessions at Austin’s Cedar Creek and Yellow Dog studios, working with longtime friend and producer/multi-instrumentalist Scott Davis (Hayes Carll’s band) and engineer Adam Odor, who also played bass, along with Kenny Smith on drums and Don Cento on guitar. The resulting ten tracks, mastered by Richard Dodd (Tom Petty, Neil Young) carry Kevin’s lonely tenor to new heights, wrapping songs full of heartache and betrayal in sunny hooks and nods to classic guitar rock, while remaining true to their acoustic genesis. Inspired by the pain of war and the overwhelming odds of everyday struggles, Kevin Aldridge’s solo album is his most personal and accessible release yet.
