Kevin Barber

Kevin Barber

Kevin’s America roots style music blends jazz, old time country, finger picking, soul and hillbilly rock to create a unique, delicate yet lively sound perfect from the cafe' to the main stage. With the solo set or trio, we’re on time, volume aware and family friendly.

Kevin Barber was born and raised in the heat and fog of the 'Big Valley' of central California and moved along to live and play in Los Angeles; New York, Nashville, Portland and San Francisco.  His sound is a clean, finger picking, hillbilly jazz style that is melodic, delicate and lively.

Based on the west coast, Kevin is currently recording at Big Timbre Studio with Jason Robbins whose production and engineering credits include Buck Owens, Dwight Yoakam and Michelle Shocked’s track “Oh Susanna,” on the 2004 Grammy Award winning album, “Beautiful Dreamer.”

His music has been played on KROQ FM in Los Angeles and college stations nation wide, used in radio commercials and independent films, has appeared with national acts Fishbone, Tammy Diddley (Bo’s daughter) and swapped stories with Elvis Presley guitarists, Scotty Moore and James Burton.

Other highlights include recording at the legendary Sun Studio in Memphis, TN, appearances and headlines at various McMenamins in Oregon; The Coconut Teaser on the Sunset Strip, Spaceland in Hollywood, CA, on Nashville’s Broadway, the Oregon Convention Center and enjoyed residencies at the Maryhill Winery in Goldendale, WA and MacTarnahan’s Taproom in Portland, OR.

A 6-year student of recording artist and The Little Willies guitarist, Jim Campilongo, he continues to search out and find the right note for the right time.

Kevin is available as a solo atmosphere set, trio, band with vocals or as an added hand to an existing project and can travel nation wide.  Click the ‘audio’ button for samples and be on the look out for his first solo record (sample of new music coming soon) scheduled for early 2007.

Come along sweet baby in my automobile
we’ll go off ridding, go just where we feel
and we will see the country, see the cactus trees.
We will go where we want to, we’re as free as can be.

Come along sweet mama steal away with me
we’ll go off strolling and find an old oak tree
and we will hug and kiss just as tender as can be
we will do just what we want to rolling in the leaves.

Here I am sweet mama down on bended knee
asking for your hand baby and your company
for a life of love in peace and harmony
cause you know that I was made for you, you were made for me.
