I Want You Tonight

Written By: Kevin Brandt

I Want You Tonight

I don't know what happened when you walked my life
And with just one look took my breath away.
Full of life and innocence, a treasure to behold
A ray of sun to light my darkest days

You never asked for anything, you went about your way
But something in your eyes they told me more.
Our hands they never held, our lips they never kissed
Still everything is tougher than before

Chorus

So now I'm driving down this freeway alone again tonight
Just staring out the window seat is empty to my right
Baby I just want to hold you until the morning light
If I can't have you forever, I just want you tonight.

Don't look to me for answers to questions I don't know
It wasn't in my plan to fall in love
So do I take my chances and follow down this road
Trapped in something I can't break free of

Maybe you'll just walk away, or I'll just turn around
This all will end and we'll just say good bye
But as for now my heart is yours, and now my life's turned upside down
And you're not here so I just wonder why

I'm driving down this freeway alone again tonight
Just staring out the window seat is empty to my right
Baby I just want to hold you until the morning light
If I can't have you forever, I just want you tonight.

INSTRUMENTAL BREAK

But now I'm driving down this freeway alone again tonight
Just staring out the window seat is empty to my right
Baby I just want to hold you until the morning light
If I can't have you forever, I just want you tonight.

I want you tonight
You tell me that it's wrong but your eyes tell me it's right
Won't you let me hold you until the morning light.
If I can't have you forever I just want you tonight.

Soldier Demo

SOLDIER

Hey Soldier, did you kiss your wife goodbye?
Did you think it would be the last time you’d see her smile
Hey Soldier, hug you child and say his prayers
10 thousand miles from here the enemy is saying theirs

It ain’t your cause, it ain’t your war
Do you understand what you’re fighting for?
It’s honor and duty that help you keep up the fight
Hey Soldier, Be safe tonight

Hey Soldier, can you tell me what you’ve seen
Dirt Brown and Blood Red are your memories still bright blue and green
Hey Soldier, did they teach you wrong from right?
Is it the same way you’ve lived all your life?

What is the cause? Who started this war?
Do you believe in what you’re fighting for?
Did they hand you a gun throw you out in the world to fight
Hey Soldier, Be safe tonight.

She kisses your picture each night before she goes to bed
Lays her hands and her lips softly on your young boys head
Hits her knees prays to God that this time he’ll sleep through the night
Hey Soldier, Where will you sleep tonight

Hey Soldier, did you come home in that bag?
Does your hometown look the same from under that flag?
Hey Soldier, did you feel a lot of pain?
And now that you’re gone do you think that this world will change?

It ain’t your cause, it ain’t your war
Do you understand what you’re fighting for?
It’s honor and duty that help you keep up the fight
Now you’ll finally sleep in peace tonight.
