Bio

Kevin Douglas and Inda Craig-Galván, collectively known as kevINda, have created a smart mix of racially-charged, political satire. Kevin and Inda first worked together as original cast members in The Second City’s minority ensemble, Brownco. They performed two revues together and had the opportunity to work with Keegan-Michael Key, David Pompeii, Claudia Wallace, and other Second City Mainstage alums. It was a wonderful learning experience, and they soon decided to combine their names and their talents to form the duo kevINda.

Since then, kevINda has performed at festivals including Chicago Improv Festival, SketchFest Seattle, Chicago SketchFest, Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival, dccomedyfest, and WORDSfest 2006. They have just returned from performing in the prestigious HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, February 28 through March 4, 2007. In May, they’re headed off to the East Coast for Sketchfest NYC.

Both Kevin and Inda also teach improv and sketch writing to high school students through Chicago’s After School Matters program and through the Goodman Theatre’s General Theater Studies Program. The Chicago Tribune called their show “noteworthy” and “inspired” during its run at I.O. (formerly Improv Olympic). Through teaching they hope to inspire other minority youth (and hope to get rid of the term minority) who may not have ready access to sketch comedy as a means to share their own points of view.

Now branching out as hired hands, they co-wrote the sketch comedy revue, Blaxploitation: The Remix, receiving a Black Theatre Alliance Award nomination (Best Writing). The sequel, Blaxploitation: You Know How We Deux, ran at the Victory Gardens Greenhouse in Chicago through March, 2007.
