"On KOOP Performance and "Fifty Acres""

"...I had never heard a voice that sounded like this before. It was new. I had no other performing voice to judge it against. It was unique. Singular. Bold. Unafraid. Unashamed. And oh so beautiful to me now!"

"And DuRard shows every sign of growing into a remarkable talent. His songwriting and keyboard playing skills easily match some of the most impressive musicians of the past few decades. I can easily see him becoming another musician who will gain massive acclaim from Austin audiences and critics."

On "Fifty Acres"

"It's beautiful. If the lyrics and the gorgeous piano accompaniment aren't enough, DuRard's voice is angelic and beautiful."

"He hits a note near the end of the song that, I swear, almost takes wing. It's as if you could float on it."

"I dare any gay man to listen to it without weeping. It's that poignant."

Bio

Before Kevin DuRard learned to read and write, he learned the language of music. For that reason, it has always been the easiest form of communication for him, since he began his study of piano and music theory at the age of four. The art of creation, though, has always been the focal point of DuRard's drive--specifically, creating art that evokes emotion, mood, and thought.

Even though he had performed as a pianist and vocalist most of his life, Kevin DuRard's live debut performing his original songs was a totally different experience. This debut in 2000 at KOOP Radio's Stonewall Festival gave Kevin the opportunity to communicate emotion and energy on a much more personal level than before. The success of his debut led to other performances in Austin and Houston, Texas such as Slipstream Magazine's concert at The Metro and Pretty Boy Productions' event at Rich's. After moving to Atlanta, Kevin continued performing at places like The Breaking Point and Actor's Express Theatre and was one of the featured performers at the Atlanta Pride Festival in 2003.

DuRard has recently expanded his career in the electronic field as DJ. After moving to Washington DC and gaining residencies at Cobalt, BeBar, and Pasha, Kevin was able to spread his fan base and fine-tune his tastes in house, electronica, and dance music. Recent successes in both sides of his career has awarded him at top chart placement for "Addiction" on americanidolunderground.com and a final eight contestant on gayinternetradiolive.com.

Now arriving back in Atlanta, DuRard has already performed at Blake's on the Park for their Southern Exposure series, and looks forward to more performances in Atlanta in the near future.

DuRard received his Bachelor of Music degree in Music Composition at the University of Texas at Austin, where he also studied film, musical theatre, and playwriting.
