Bio

Born and raised near Cleveland, Ohio, Kevin was influenced heavily by the horn bands of the 1970’s from an early age. Coupled with his fondness of jazz, especially the contemporary styles of saxophonists such as Joshua Redman and Michael Brecker, Kevin employs his internal connection to blues and funk with the sophistication and pensiveness associated with the jazz idiom.

Currently finishing a Jazz Studies performance degree from the University of Illinois, Kevin has played with numerous ensembles both in and outside of the classroom, including those under the direction of Jim Pugh, Ron Bridgewater, and Chip Stephens, whose combo this year was asked to play the Jazz Showcase in Chicago this past December, premiering works by Kevin as well as other members of the ensemble. In addition to the Champaign, Illinois area, Kevin has worked with groups from his hometown including The Tony Camerato Band and his own band, The Vibe, who has shared the stage with groups such as Galactic, Grupo Fantasma, and the Jacobs Fred Odyssey.

His proficient doubles playing on flute and clarinet, as well as the other saxophones, has awarded him gigs with multiple musical productions. Some of which include "Chicago," "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," and "Reefer Madness." In addition, Kevin's enthusiasm for the music, knack for preparation, and his easy going but professional attitude makes him a joy to work with, landing him multiple jobs with the same organizations, but always seeking out new and challenging opportunities.

Kevin was recently accepted into the Graduate Commercial Music Degree Program at Belmont University; the first horn player to receive such acceptance since the program’s inception. It is an exciting transitional period full of new and unique musical opportunities and endeavors that will no doubt be propelled by musical excellence and pure enjoyment.
