Bio

Basic Bio:

Kevin Giblin is a 20 year old singer/songwriter from Paramus New Jersey. He has always had a passion for writing original music ever since he was a child. Kevin even has a few songs recorded from age 5.

When recording, Kevin blends his upbeat acoustic rhythms with catchy lyrics, pop drum beats, and sometimes even a rock sounding electric guitar. Most of his live shows are done solo, so his act usually consists of just his catch lyrics and upbeat acoustic rhythms; which still finds a way of pleasing crowds.

Kevin began the performance part of his musical career in high school when he played songs on retreats. After he realized how much people enjoyed listening to him play, he started to play at other venues as well.

Other then music, Kevin enjoys living the normal life of a suburban 20-year-old.

Influences:

Kevin’s influences include pop rock acts such as Lifehouse, Switchfoot, Hawk Nelson, Relient K, The Goo Goo Dolls, Boys Like Girls, Matchbox 20, Train, and many more.

Sounds Like:

However, Kevin has been compared to artists such as Howie Day, Ronnie Day, O.A.R, Matt Nathanson, and emerging artist Eric Hutchinson

Schooling:

After graduating from the very prestigious Don Bosco Prep high school, Kevin decided to attend The University of Scranton. He chose this school for a few reasons, most notably for the size of the school. Kevin grew up always wanting to step up and be a leader, and in a smaller school such as the University of Scranton, he knew this would be very possible.

These leadership opportunities include director at 99.5 WUSR (The campus radio station) as well as one of the three people in charge of bringing musical acts to the University. In the 2007-2008 school year alone we’ve had acts such as Lifehouse, Matt Nathanson, Amber Pacific, Asteria, Making April, and Eric Hutchinson to name a few.

Kevin will be entering into his Junior year of college in the Fall of 2008. Music has always been his first love, but upon graduating high school Kevin knew how important it would be to go to college and find other skills to work with. He is a Communications Major, and if a music career does not work out he has a few options to choose from.

Live Shows:

For the past few years, Kevin has been playing at local coffeeshops to begin to spread his name. However, this year Kevin began to do something a bit different then most acoustic artists; he has been playing a few shows along side the area’s emerging rock artists. Even though he still enjoys playing smaller venues (such as coffeeshops), Kevin found that fans can get more into his upbeat style of acoustic music if he plays at various standing room venues.

Kevin has always made an attempt to play as many charity shows as possible. These shows include Relay For Life (Cancer Research), Take Back the Night (Against Assault/Violence), as well as shows befitting the “I Have a Dream” foundation. Kevin never has a problem playing shows in which he receives no compensation, as well as the majority of the money goes to a notable charity. This relates to Kevin’s goal in music; to just give the world a positive message through music. Money, time and patience are just a few sacrifices Kevin is willing to make for his music.

Promotion:

Even though Kevin is a Communications major, he possesses a lot of qualities that marketing majors posses. After learning about what usually works and does not work in the world of promotion, Kevin has done the following. He has purchased t-shirts, pins, and even personalized picks to help market his music. To solve the problem of advertising, Kevin did not even think twice when he began to distribute about one hundred free t-shirts to his friends and family. After a few short months, the name Kevin Giblin spread across the local area as well as his college like a wild fire.

Albums:
The Second Semester is a very unique and original project for Kevin. It literally takes you through everything Kevin went through during his second semester of college. Even though the title does refer to Kevin’s college life, it also refers to how Kevin hopes this album will be a new beginning to his musical career.
The album fuses acoustic rock with upbeat rhythms and catchy melodies. Each track was personally written, recorded, and produced by Kevin himself.
Kevin says that the main reason he decided to record this album was to try to help teens dealing with new found responsibilities such as college, living on your own, growing up, and being an adult.
“My dream is that my music will be able to prevent at least one shooting and/or one suicide from occurring. I know life’s not easy, so just try to be yourself and you CAN get through it. I feel my generation greatly needs a voice of hope, someone to just be there to let you know everything will be alright. I hope I can be that voice.”
Kevin always tries to put his heart and soul into everything he writes. His first year of colle
