Bio
Born and raised in one of the most renowned music Mecca’s of the world, Kevin holds fast to his Chicago roots. He began singing at the age of seven at his grandfather’s church. At the age of 11, Kevin took the opportunity and joined Chicago’s own “Soul Children of Chicago”. For almost a year Kevin experienced a much disciplined vocal training within turn gave him a foundation that was priceless.
In 1992, Kevin teamed up with is brother, the late Marvin R. Gray Jr. and joined his vision for a community choir called “Rezzurection”. The ministry of the choir lasted for 3 years and toured all over the Chicago and Milwaukee area. Kevin also ministers as music director at his home church, Word of Life Bible Fellowship, where his father, Bishop Marvin R. Gray Sr. presides. Kevin has been a part of many showcases and was featured in the JVC showcase and the Tymar productions showcase. He also made is acting debut in the 1999 hit stage play, “If Loving you is wrong, I don’t wanna be right”. Kevin returned to the stage in 2001 and won over audiences in the stage play, “Promises, Promises.
As a producer and writer, he feels that writing from personal experiences is the best way to reach hearts and cause life changing activity. His vision is and will always be “Ministry thru Music”. Kevin realizes that when you put God first, all the other things in life that are needed will be provided. In his own words, “I’m just a tool that wants nothing else but to be used for the glory of God”.
Kevin has transfixed gospel audiences alike with is signature golden vocals. Since his first EP “I’ve Just Begun (2003), he as won the respect and admiration of music legends such as Kim Stratton, Kim Burrell…just to name a few.
Kevin now turns the page with is highly anticipated full length project entitled “So Fresh”. The album visits just about every genre of music and showcases the impeccable artistry of Kevin. Writing 100% of the lyrics and producing about half of the tracks, Kevin leaps into a new arena and truly establishes himself as a triple threat in music.
