"Texas rap, reimagined by Kevin Jack"

“I wanted to create a very musical album,” Jack said, “with a focus on live instrumentation in order to make a sound that really is unique and different.”

The production values are accordingly distinguished. East New York Productions, Sam Heights, Curt Beatz and Spektaqular handle the beats on the album. These beats aren’t your everyday mix-tape tracks, nor are they club beats.

Jack’s delivery and lyrical style has in the past drawn comparisons to Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West and Common. His storytelling ability especially stands out.

“I wanted to be sure to tell some stories,” Jack said. “Bring that personal experience back. Even kids coming from a mansion in the Woodlands can identify, and then they become part of the message I’m trying to convey.”

This personal conviction is hardly limited to his studio work. Kevin Jack’s live performances, including opening for acts as famous as Method Man and Devin the Dude, are universally praised for their vitality and energy.

“I see my shows as a chance to establish a personal connection with people, something I can’t achieve by giving out albums,” Jack said.

After wrapping up a recent tour of Texas college campuses, Jack speaks reverently of his goal in every performance, which is “[to] have as much fun as possible while bringing the music to you.”

Campaign 4 Change is not a positive feel-good romp. The subject matter is more serious, with little Soulja Boy braggadocio. Although Jack admits that it wasn’t easy to go against the superficial grain of the genre.

“I went through a hard time — my dad passed after the 2005 ACL festival, and I thought, ‘What is my contribution gonna be? What if I created campaign music to change our perspective on a community level?’”

This experience is what lends credibility to the characters he portrays in his lyrics — homeless men, black girls lost. Most importanly, though, it allows Jack to articulate the painful and poignant elements of hip-hop, in addition to the celebratory ones - Cass Luskin, Daily Texan Music Writer

Bio

Every couple decades you have an artist that dares to push the envelope on what is acceptable; An artist that is so unique, they cannot be confined to the conventional rules of genre or who can't be categorized and attached to an easily digestible definition. Enter Kevin Jack, the bizarre songwriter/ rapper / DJ who seamlessly fuses elements of trapstep, electro, dance, and southern crunk into a concoction referred to as "Southern Funkadelic Based Out Punk Music". The resulting sound articulates an anthemic pulse of bass and melody that serve as the soundtrack to an extraterrestrial-like counter culture. Vibrant sounds juxtaposed boisterous hooks, serve as the backdrop to the provocative artistic display, all the while creating an ominous vibe of intrigue. Simply stated if Calvin Harris, Will I Am, & Steve Aoki partook in a cocaine induced dance party, it would be the closest representation of Jack's live show and genre bending sound.

Having toured with the likes of J. Cole, Big Sean, Sean Kingston,Wiz Khalifa , Paul Wall, Chamillionaire, and rock icon Little Richard, the upstart has a pretty impressive resume. Throw a catalog of vivacious tunes in the mix, and it would appear Jack is ready to bring his spirited athems to the mainstream.

His Latest effort "Champagne & Gummi Bears" is scheduled for a Fall Release and features buzzworthy single "Carlton", a catchy record paying homage to the 90's rich kid and his signature dance . With a host of collaborations and songwriting projects on deck, It appears that the left of center artist is definitely positioned to make some noise in the current musical climate.
