About to release my 1st CD called ONE

Kevin James has been leading singing circles in and around Byron Bay for the last 8 years and his regular events are well known as an important part of the alternative culture that so many come here to experience. His universal approach to spirituality is reflected in a wide range of simple songs, weaving in mantras from different cultures around the world. Most are in English or Sanskrit with translations and words are provided, although very easy to catch on. His partner Mel has joined him in recent years playing the harmonium from India. Together with his lovely guitar playing and bamboo flutes they create a soothing sound scape and a free, open space for you to sing with them or just lie down and soak up the vibe. Devotional singing has been part of almost every culture and religion of the world throughout recorded history. It brings people together for a common good and brings balance and peace to the mind, connects us to our heart and expands our awareness beyond the ego. In today’s rapidly changing world, it can be beneficial for us to look back, in order to move forward. This is why so many people today are discovering the beauty of this practice. Devotional songs, chants, mantras, Bhajans, hymns, prayers, all serve the purpose of concentrating and focusing our attention away from the ego, which is the cause of most, if not all, of our suffering. Most of our waking life we are continually thinking, with practically all of those thoughts centred on or around the I. My life, my body, my, kids, family, car, my job, my friends, concerns, worries, fears, loves, etc. All for good reason, but we need a break to find the balance. Devotional singing is a completely natural, effective and easy way for that to happen, on its own, without any effort. In fact it can be quite electric, profound and fun. And can leave us experiencing the freedom of the other side of the cage of the conceptual self. In all our searching we never find anything with lasting fulfilment. Until we make the journey inside, from the head, to the heart….
