Bio

Chicagoland singer/songwriter Kevin Janus first emerged onto the music scene in 2011 with indie/folk trio Man the Dial, combining songs he had written with fellow band members James Young (Valaska) and Matt Holmes (Valaska) to comprise their debut album "Old Glow".

After crafting a larger and more produced sound for their follow up album in 2013, Man the Dial rebranded using the new moniker Spirit Safe, enlisting the services of Dave Valdez (Valaska) and Sam Brown (Laverne) for live performances. The group released their self-titled record in 2014.

In 2018 Janus reunited with Holmes at his south-Chicago recording studio The Echo Mill to begin tracking his debut solo album "The Disposition of My Vital Organs". Over the course of two weeks, Janus provided the lyrics, vocals, and instrumentation for a collection of 12 original songs he'd been laboring over for almost a decade [excluding bass guitar, performed by Zach Porlier (Valaska)].

On "The Disposition of My Vital Organs", Janus provides a contemporary take on a classic folk sound with tracks featuring a broad range of moods and no shortage of hooks. From blistering guitars and crushing drums on the frantic “Haunts You” to fragile pianos alongside a heartfelt lullaby written for his son “Get to Bed (For Donovan)”, Janus scrapes the bottom of his soul for each song's poetic lyrical accompaniment.

With high hopes in 2020, he takes his solo act to the road to play across the country, simultaneously brewing up a new collection of material for his follow-up album set for a 2021 release.
