 Nashville, Tennessee, USA
BandRockAmericana

With influences in Americana Rock n' Roll, Blues, and Folk, Kevin Koplar blends simple melodies with complex lyrics, dark themes with a light-hearted grace, delivering an energetic and distinctive sound that remains within an approachable reach.

Biography

Kevin Koplar grew up in the land of Chuck Berry. He picked up the guitar at an early age, and played along to both Keith Richards and Jimmy Page, eventually tracing the roots back to the pioneers such as Mississippi John Hurt and Son House. Mimicking the onstage gimmicks of Mick Jagger and Iggy Pop, Kevin weirded out most of his classmates. Their distaste was only temporary though, due to the fact that Kevin Koplar had the only rock n' roll band, Satisfaction, in his rather conservative high school. In college, Kevin began playing solo gigs around Indiana University, channeling diverse influences such as Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Jeff Tweedy, and Jack White. He spent a summer in New York City playing gigs around Manhattan such as at the historic Bitter End. Kevin now lives in Nashville Tennessee, performing both by himself and with band accompaniment, working to reform the spirit of the blues in a modern new style.

Lyrics

The Givers

Written By: Kevin Koplar

I lied,
but there was nobody listening.
I bleached down my tracks in some poisonous mixtures-
like pride,
a yacht never christened.
I'm findin it now
there's no gold for the Givers

The times,
they're hard-
but aren't they always?
complacency tries to bring me back to the start.
the crimes
are near the end of the trailways,
im seein it now
there's no place for the heart

Nothing can harm me lately, baby....

she cried,
and there was nobody caring,
the salt made a track to the truth where she stumbled
the lies,
sent by the Takers,
I'm seein it now
There's no home for the humble
Oh my,
this fruit that i'm bleedin',
a strange sort of pleasure from the place where it hurt.
I fly,
to the end of the world,
I'm seein it now there's no place for the heart.

Nothing can harm me lately, baby...

I lied,
but there was nobody listening
I'm diggin my grave with the bronze and the silvers,
oh my,
I'm still giving my lovin'
but i'm learning it now
There's no gold for the Givers

Emiley

Written By: Kevin Koplar

Whose to say where we'll be, when we get older?
walk right through,
I'll be holding the door.
whose to say that the time isn't getting closer?
who'll be the first,
to never want anymore?

There is God in the graveyard shores,
oh the flowerpot buds by the kitchen door,
the tears from the moon,
Sister, that's what i'm here for.

Oh, Emiley
Don't forget your family,
and if you
leave today
it'll be hell tomorrow.

Whose to say that the keys don't lay on the sidewalks?
to open the sky,
when you've had enough.
On Parisian streets,
down on your luck,
Champs Elysees,
Arc du triumph,

and there is God in the potholes,
or the black dress worn for the funeral,
say hello to the deceased,
Sister that's what we live for.

Oh, Emiley,
don't forget your family,
and if i make it through today
will you stay tomorrow?

And ill pray
yes ill pray
and ill pray,

For you.

and there is God in the shadowcast,
by the evening sun on the hourglass,
whispering your innocence burns,
sister that's what i'll die for.

Oh, Emiley,
Don't forget your family,
and if you leave today
it'll be hell tomorrow.

Love, Lies n' Lust

Written By: Kevin Koplar

Love, Lies n' lust,
Come inside, girl if you must.
what's this fuss, about the lights on above?
is it love, lies or lust?

I, U, and her
like a three headed monster,
evenings closer, let the demons waltz inside,
holding her, you and I.

Love, lies n' lust,
open your eyes to the morning angels dust,
enough is enough,
turn the light off above,
for your love, lies n' lust.

Tugboat

Written By: Kevin Koplar

Some shine together,
some shine apart,
but only I can shine,
with your eclipse upon my heart.

Some mine for silver,
some mine for gold,
but what's mine is yours,
is there for you to hold.

Sometimes, I get carried away,
carried away, sometimes...(2X)

Tugboat whistle,
and tugboat scream,
but tugboat keep tuggin',
tuggin' me through my dreams,

and some die for love,
and some die for war,
but ole Tuggy and I,
are dyin' to leave this shore,

sometimes, I get carried away,
carried away, sometimes...(2X)

Come ride my Tugboat,
and we'll forget what it was,
that you and I were cryin' about,
Come tide my Tugboat,
and we'll forget what it was,
that you and I were fightin' about.

Some go by day,
some go by night,
and some wait on the waves,
without a sense of time.

And some mine for silver,
and some mine for gold,
but what's mine is yours,
baby lets get old.

Sometimes...(2x)

Come ride my Tugboat
and we'll forget what it was,
that you and I were cryin' about(3x)

Tugboat whistle,
and Tugboat scream,
but Tugboat keep tuggin',
tuggin' me through my dreams,

and some mine for silver,
and some mine for gold,
but what's mine is yours,
oh baby, lets get old.
