Happier Than I've Ever Been

Written By: Kevin Mileski

Now I've got no place to live
and I've got nowhere to sleep.
Hey there, mom and dad, I know you love me so
but aren't you so damn proud of me?

But I'm happier than I've ever been
Everything is going to be alright
I'm happier than I've ever been
Next to you is where I reside.

Now the place that I call home
Will be a mess and I won't clean
Not to say I've ever been a slob before
but that's just a fact no one believes.

Give me time and give me space,
give me love I can embrace.
Light the fire in your mind my dear
and let my hand carress your face.

But I'm happier than I've ever been
Everything is going to be alright
I'm happier than I've ever been
Next to you is where I reside.

If there's anything you don't need to beg for
it's anything I can supply
when the snow is falling cold out there
I feel the warmth I need in your eyes.

But I'm happier than I've ever been
Everything is going to be alright
I'm happier than I've ever been
Next to you is where I reside.

If I go, I hope you'll follow
If you stay, I'd do the same
We'll hit the road, go where we need go
and be gone before they lay the blame.

But I'm happier than I've ever been
Everything is going to be alright
I'm happier than I've ever been
Next to you is where I reside.

Mmmstop

-Scat-

I ran into a friend of mine - he wanted to give me a little time
Release the demons he had kept in his mind
and be the sole sole reason for the change in my life

And I said, "Who are you kidding, man, I'm doing just fine
And if I do say so even a little bit high. You think you can change me
based on you -- you got a lot to learn about me regarding you."

Dumstop...

He said, "Wake up friend, you've been driving blind.
What you think of yourself is just a little contrived.
Now I've seen more than you ever will; and
I'll make you so aware of it, your mind will feel ill."

Dumstop...

It's not a real good feeling when you're finding out
that you've become the very person you had
warned yourself about.

And he said, "Let me start from one sub A,
I've known you long enough to say that
the people who you love become your enemies
The ones you've come to know will make you feel free.

But keep your head man, your friends are your friends
and like a Hallmark card says they'll stay till the end.
They'll tell it like it is and say when you've gone bad
And they'll be the only ones who could be truly glad

When you stand on the stage
And you give 'em a wink
Because they know where you've been
And they still buy you a drink
and you don't have to hand out a thing for free
Just do what comes next, dear, and you'll soon see..."

Dumstop...

He said, "Go to all the free shows,
Show the folks you'll make the time.
Just the way that they would and
you can cancel all your bad times."

Dumstop...

He said, "I hope this helps
and gives you a point of view.
And I hope you hear the words that I've said
and the things that come around you reside in your head
That way if you succeed or fail,
at least you know it was all for real."

And I said, "I take it from a man who knows.
If you keep your heart light, your mind will grow.
If what you're looking for is a guarantee,
then how could I not when your words came from me?"

Dumstop...

Sweet Dignity

Written By: Kevin Mileski

How simple can it be, oh sweet dignity?
When it was forgotten, oh sweet dignity.
Now life moves slower when I go
to a place that lets me know when I move too fast.
Conversation's all the people have
and they tell you that you're good at best;
but you'll never last.

Do you remember when you first began
when you sang your song into a fan
while everyone was sitting around talking?
How simple could it really be, oh sweet dignity?

If we merge our thoughts from a simple mind
with the quiet hum of stereotypes,
the world would end.
What difference can I possibly make
standing on an empty stage
with a song to lend?

Now the words could flow into pictures you never thought real.
Conditions you've given into are far from that ideal
How simple could it really be, oh sweet dignity?

Do you remember when you first began
when you sang your song into a fan
while everyone was sitting around talking?
How simple could it really be, oh sweet dignity?
Do you remember how it used to be, oh sweet dignity?

Take my worries and I'll fly with time,
clearly work my battle lines between good and bad.
Got a weekend off, I'll be feeling fine.
Four AM, gonna run the lights till I'm far from sad.
What a room full of pillows wouldn't solve for me
is my recent loss of memory of a simpler time.
And I'm determined to make my oppinion known
and feel that if you really won't,
you get a complex in any language.

Do you remember when you first began
when you sang your song into a fan
while everyone was sitting around talking?
How simple could it really be, oh sweet dignity?
Do you remember how it used to be, oh sweet dignity?

Painted Empty Apartment

Written By: Kevin Mileski

I painted an empty apartment
picked out a cool color green
doing it all by myself
it's not as sad as it seems

CHORUS
And I don't have money
it would be such a waste it would seem
because I would just spend it
on bills upon bills and those trips to the hills,
catching up with my old friends whose pockets are filled
with memories and diaries reflecting how happy they'd been
In their old beat up painted and empty apartments.

Stubbed my big toe on a floorboard
cracked my head on a beam
It had fallen while I had been sleeping
it's not as sad as it seems

CHORUS

I'd move in on Tuesday if able
If all of my stuff was not gone
Five or so trips to the car
I can consider it done

All of the time I've been able
maybe this whole thing's been dreaming
But guitars can make this my home
So it's not as sad as it seems

CHORUS

Gonna Be A Better Day

Written By: Kevin Mileski

Every now and again I'll be lying in bed
trying to explain it to the voice in my head
how we've come so far to have nothing left
It's gonna be a better day

I woke up this morning at four A.M.
My head was pounding and my eyes grew thin
So come on, you know that I just can't win
It's gonna be a better day

CHORUS

So, come on, come on, you've been lying to yourself
the sun can't shine every day
Now come on, come on you've been living a hell
It's gonna be a better day
Oh, come on, come on, you've been lying to yourself
The sun can't shine every day
so come on, come on, you've been lying to yourself
it's gonna be a better day

All the ladies around, they've been giving me eyes
Staring me down and they'll be living their lies
Well I shouldn't be scared; but I should stay wise
It's gonna be a better day.

If I asked myself in another three years
When I'm done caring about my long lost fears
I'm sure I'd agree with those I held dear
It's gonna be a better day.

CHORUS

I'd never say I was wasting time
Givin' it all my mind
I'd never say I was wasting time
but today...
