Kevin Sands and The Earth Kings

Kevin Sands grew up hammering away on the family’s up-right piano. He developed his lyrical genius when he was in High School where he studied Latin for 5 years. He translated poetry and prose from Latin to English and vice versa. He wrote his first song while in his early teens. Just around that same time, a friend put a harmonica in his hands and over the years he has become a master. With the purchase of an acoustic guitar he pursued his passion of singing and songwriting. He collaborated with long time musical friends Phil Krawczuk, Glen Rowley and Brent Saklofske and soon after became known as The Earth Kings.

The Earth Kings is a band that has been a long time in the making. Members include Kevin Sands (vocals and harmonica), Phil Krawczuk (drums and percussion), Brent Saklofske (guitars: slide, lead and rhythm) and Glen ‘Hammondman’ Rowley (keyboards). They represent a coming together of many musical influences that encompass rock, pop, classical, rhythm and blues, country, folk, world and reggae. The fusion of these creative styles, talent and personalities give The Earth Kings a unique and eclectic sound.

Kevin Sand’s first album of original music became a reality with the release of “The Courting”. This album was produced and recorded by Phil Krawczuk at his Emerald Ridge studio located near Chilliwack, B.C..

The Earth Kings are proud to release three singles off of this CD, “The Courting”, “Heavy Price To Pay” and “Take Some Chances”.

The single, “The Courting” has an electric Jethro Tull feel to it with nice crisp vocals. It’s an up tempo song that highlights their storytelling talents. “The significance of the song is the intention to court favor, which in this case is a young man’s attempt to woo a young lady that he has just encountered by chance”, states Kevin.

The single “Heavy Price To Pay” is also a hot southern rock blues song with exceptional piano, wailing guitar and featuring Kevin's smokin' harmonica. This song takes me straight to a Texas bar to throw a few beers down and dance a little. It is absolutely great song!

The single “Take Some Chances” is a ballad with an absolutely wonderful arrangement. The tone, texture and overall feel you get from this song is glorious.
