Right Where I Should Be

Written By: Kevin Tye

Right Where I Should Be

Had young boy dreams. The kind you have when you're seventeen. I'd be wild and free. Maybe pitch in the major leagues
But that's not how things worked out. I married Jenny and we settled down.
We had some kids and we bought a house. I took a job in this company town.

But I sometimes wonder how things might have been?
What would I do if I could live my life again?
But when I'm giving comfort 'cus my daughter skinned her knee.
That's when my life is so clear to me.

I'm right where I should be. Takin' kids to baseball, packin up the SUV
I'm right where I should be. Dressin' up as Santa Claus with presents on Christmas Eve.
And when my life is over and your prayin over me, just remember
I was right where I should be.

It's funny how things work out. Life just happens when you turn around.
You see your kids swingin' in the yard. Pretty soon their goin' to the prom.

And I sometimes wonder how things might have been?
What would I do if I could live my life again?
But when I'm takin' pictures of my son as a new Marine.
That's when my life is so clear to me.
Cus...

The best things in life ain't hard. Like playin' catch out in the yard
And the only thing I really need is growin old with my family.
Cus....

I'm right where I should be. Takin' kids to baseball, packin' up the SUV
I'm right where I should be. Scarin' all the neighbor kids to death on Halloween.
And when my life is over and your prayin' over me, just remember
I was right where I should be.
