Born and raised North of Toronto by 30 minutes, Kevin Wong was first exposed to music at the age of 3 when his mother dragged him kicking and screaming down a Montessori hallway to his first violin lesson.

His sound is reflective of an eclectic blend of pop, soul, jazz, and rock influences. Kevin’s music often reflects his own experiences, both as an Asian-Canadian in a fairly diverse community, and as a young man coming out following the advent of marriage equality reform in Canada. His later work reflects his personal experiences with dating, love, loss, and observations on his communities.

Lyrics

Underground

Written By: Kevin Wong

Another Friday, another party full of plaid
as you pose into your phones and forget the dreams you had
yes it's okay, if you're pretty don't be sad
just apply some more cologne, swim along inside the mad-
ness

I can't believe it's what we're coming to
but I participate along with you

Have I failed? Is it time to take a stand
or at least to dig into the sand
head in my hands
head in my hands

And I won't be here
when you next look around
I'm going underground
When I follow you blind
I just fall more behind
This game is drying out
I'm going down

Underground
I am going down
Underground

And It's so easy
when you're drinking with your friends and you're blending with the clique
and you naturally pretend
but I'm queasy
See the path you recommend doesn't care for the unique
and your looks are quickly spent
up

Another bottle just to numb the sting
beneath it all, you long for deeper things
it all pales - how much more can you withstand
are you happy underneath the tan
and what's your plan?
and what's your plan?

And I won't be here
when you next look around
I'm going underground
When I follow you blind
I just fall more behind
This game is drying out
I'm going down

Underground
I am going down
Underground

And babe don't think that I don't know
how hard it is to fight the flow
it's easy not to have to think at all

But I keep feeling something's wrong
like no one really does belong
Just actors on a set about to fall

And I won't be here
when you next look around
I'm going underground
When I follow you blind
I just fall more behind
This game is drying out
I'm going down

Underground
I am going down
Underground
