Drink'in For A Liv'in

Written By: Kevin W. Peery

Guess its time to drink again,
everyday decisions to make
This drink'in for a liv'in lifestyle,
might be a big mistake

Drink'in bourbon when your lonely,
will sure enough kill the pain
Scotch when your loves on the rocks,
when you think you'll go insane

Beer when your feel'n lucky,
roll'in sevens all day long
Slip'in away, again, to margaritaville
when everything you do is wrong

Too much gin will make you forget, everything, including your name
Ta-Kill-Ya in any form,
will make you do the same

Wine if you want to feel mello,
& listen to the blues
Live at Whisky Tango's,
sing'in all night long,
you may even make the news

*I guess it's time to drink again,
everyday.... the decision I make
This drink'in for a liv'in lifestyle
could be my big mistake

The Long Way Home

Written By: Kevin W. Peery

I took the long way home last night
down that ole blacktop road
Harvest moon overhead,
a smell of fresh clover, it had just been mowed

As I pulled up the driveway,
our house was strangely dark
I turned off my headlights,
& put it into park

Grabbing the days dirty ole lunchbox,
I made my way to the backdoor
She was stand'n there to meet me,
with a look I'd never seen before

Hey baby, was all I said,
when tears ran down her face
She said, "I cant do it anymore,
I have to get outa this place

Her bags were already in the car,
nothin I could say
A beginning of our ending,
I knew she would'nt stay

I'm sitt'in in the dark tonight,
trying to think of reasons why
She left without warn'in,
only memories to clarify

I hope she will find happiness,
-n- whatever she's look'in for
Suddenly it's all over,
tonight I'm a lonesome bachelor

I took the long way home tonight
down that ole blacktop road
Harvest moon overhead,
a smell of fresh clover, it had just
been mowed
