Welcome to the meeting place of the electric edge of Rock, classic cool of R&B, and epic euphoria of Pop! KEV.O's award-winning sound invades eardrums on October 1 with the release of his debut LP LOVOLUTION: The Urban Alternative, a combined effort of three record labels, including his own, 1117 MUSIC. In collaboration with producer James McKinney (Mariah Carey, Omarion, Maiysha), this 13-track set represents a running start for the urban rock star.
In just under an hour, LOVOLUTION: The Urban Alternative showcases KEV.O's artistic breadth as a consummate artist. Following an intoxicating rhythm-and-voice introduction is the über swag-laden "Go Ahead", a futuristic throwback to the new jack swing. Raving guitars roar through the Coldplay-esque rock ballad "Falling", while indie enigma YahZarah (The Foreign Exchange, Erykah Badu) adds flare to the fire on the steamy Pop track "Lights On". Finally, on a warm bed of plush horn and sultry vocal arrangements, KEV.O revives the classic love song on R&B/Soul ballad "Settle Down".
In addition to production by James McKinney, LOVOLUTION: The Urban Alternative also features contributions from Derek Oldes (John Legend, Maroon5), Kevin Jackson (Jill Scott, R Kelly), Biscuit Bynum (The Foreign Exchange, Raheem DeVaughn), Clifton Brockington (Donnie McClurkin, Fred Hammond, Israel), and Ayanna Gregory (Dick Gregory, Bill Cosby, Stevie Wonder).
A native of Atlanta, GA, KEV.O's musical beginnings were nurtured on the campus of Howard University in Washington, DC. Since then, he could be spotted with artists like Mýa, Mario, Kim Burrell, Raheem DeVaughn, The Family Stone Project, and Chrisette Michele, along with other independent artists, while promoting 4 Singles Only!, the critically acclaimed EP released in 2007 featuring the hit single "Blue Moon". In 2009, KEV.O reached #1 on Mp3.com.au for the single "All An Illusion" with jazz artist Kenny Wesley and was named "Best Alternative Artist" by Velocity Magazine.
