Singer/Songwriter
The melodic sound of Houston’s own Khara has captured the attention of fellow Houstonians. The rising star, along with her band 2141, recently performed for a crowd of 400 at The Venue. The multitalented R& B songstress has been singing professionally for about four years.
“I grew up in the church singing and even had my own group before I ventured out on a solo career,” she says. “When I got into this business, I really did not know what I was getting into and how much work artist development entails.”
Khara’s voice resonates with excitement when asked about her mentors. “Patrick Taylor of TaylorMayde Entertainment has schooled me on the ins and outs of the music industry, advised me of what to stay away from, provided me with critiques and other valuable knowledge,” she says. “I am also blessed to have the guidance and support of the legendary Frankie Beverly. I’m so inspired by greats like Beverly and Whitney Houston … to see their success [and] the millions of people who enjoy their work is what I aspire to achieve.”
By the sound of things, it appears that Khara will not have to wait long to fulfill that aspiration. Her single, “You Don’t Giva” from her CD scheduled to drop early next year, has already gained local airplay and rave reviews. “For people to say that they like my songs and what I’m saying, is incredible,” she says.
