Bio

Khari Lemuel knows he will one day ascend into heaven on a cloud of his musical compositions. In his opinion music is a daily meditation, an alter where before him unfolds his life’s purpose.

Born in a pasture of symphonic possibilities he began cultivating his musical gift at the age of three by studying the Suzuki method of cello instruction in Chicago. During these early years Khari played with many youth orchestras and chamber ensembles. It was here, in Chicago’s classical community, that he first fell in love with the orchestral sound. Evolving beyond just the cello he’s picked up and become proficient with the trumpet, piano, guitar, flute, bass, violin and sitar. His musical genius was evident at such a young age and so inspiring that even Oprah Winfrey bore witness on her nationally syndicated talk show.

Because the discipline of classical music is so rigid Khari by his late teens had become increasing frustrated with its boundaries. Looking toward his teachers for encouragement they offered none because they were just as rooted in the classical tradition any improvisation was deemed blasphemous.

Finally in 2002 Khari left the classical aesthetic and began producing and interpreting music on his own terms. His search for an outlet where his ideas would be welcome led him to the Chicago underground poetry scene. It was here that Khari found his singing voice and individuality. Khari was immediately embraced by this community of artist just as passionate about music as he.

Khari’s musical gift that emanates healing powers to open recipients helped to increase his popularity and by 2004 he was opening up for independent and major artist such as: Kelan Phil Cohran, Meshell Ndgeocello, Eric Roberson, Anthony David, Fertile Ground, Issac Hayes and the legendary Stevie Wonder.

Khari’s latest album entitled Morning Music is a work made to embody the healing and inspiring energy of the morning. The album has many elements of popular soul music yet it also strays away from the imposing boundaries of neo-soul.
