Winner of Best Songwriter 2006 and Best Guitarist 2006 at The Basin Music Festival and Port Fairy Folk Festival respectively, Khristian Mizzi went on to pen his own solo EP The Rad Between in early 2008. The EP has received wide acclimation from ABC radio and various community stations around Australia. Mizzi wanted to create a more full bodied sound, and so...enter The Sirens - four musicians who collectively share the passion for delivering Mizzi;s polished art form. Khristian Mizzi always believed he could win The Basin Music Festival's song writing competition.
However, the 26 year old student of Scoresby said it was easy to doubt yourself in the music industry.
"I had just won an award at the Port Fairy Music Festival and now to win this award, things are starting to gain momentum," he said while holding his hand-made Sachar Amos guitar. "I have so much more confidence now."

Bio
Award winning singer/songwriter, Khristian Mizzi has been playing music to audiences in Melbourne and around Australia for the past 5 years. His compelling and emotive music calls in people from all ages and walks of life.
Early influences such as Neil Young and Cat Stevens led him to develop a sound deeply rooted in the folk genre, however, his more modern influences such as Nick Cave and Wilco have broadened his style into more of what can be described as an Alternative Folk/Country sound.
His first EP The Road Between received wide acclamation from ABC radio and various stations around Australia.
Khristian’s main project is a five piece band - The Sirens. Together they have drawn in many new supporters. The Sirens have performed and headlined at various festivals and major venues around the country and have still maintained local interest with frequent smaller scale shows in Melbourne. The Sirens are currently ranked within the top 10 of the Triple J unearthed music charts (Australia wide).
Khristian and The Sirens spent much of 2009 in the studio recording their debut studio album ‘ Beautiful World’.
In 2010, Khristian, Frank and Jess toured Canada with a stripped back version of the Sirens.
In 2011, The Sirens toured the east-coast of Australia with the release of their 'Sirens EP'.
