Bio

"I was slow to recognize the talents that God had given me to capture people with poetry as music. For years I harbored my talents in a shell of shyness. But, when it was time for the shell to be pryed open, a pearl emerged. And I am Kia Nicole."- Kia Nicole

Kia Nicole has been sharing her gifts of soul music and poetry for many years. She began her recording career with the Spoken Word Music duo of Key of G where she was accompanied by Greg Monts. Their primary goal with music and poetry was to promote positive and conscience thinking to those who listened. With that partnership she spread her love for music and poetry throughout Jacksonville, FL where they opened for independent artists such as Darnell Levine, Ken J. Martin, Salakida, Fhena, and more. In November of 2006 they released their first album and later went on to release a promotional album. The duo took a hiatus in 2008 in Kia Nicole decided it was time to begin her solo career.

In 2009 Kia Nicole began writing for her first solo album entitled Reacquainted. With this project, she has reached a creative pinnacle not touched before in this musical era. She continues to challenge herself vocally and open doors for musical style fusions that bring a new flavor to soul music. Kia Nicole will undoubtedly be the new driving force in the music industry. Refusing to be placed inside a box musically, expect a taste explosion of various genres intricately woven into the sound that has reacquainted Kia Nicole with her first love: Music.

Kia Nicole's musical stylings are a cross between Lauryn Hill and that Jill Scott flow. She can rock a stage/crowd with an acapella piece, or with a guitar or a band. Just depends on what the occasion calls for. Audience participation is one of her favorite aspects of in performances. "Being an independent artist I have found that it is important to connect with the audience to develop a tighter bond to them and in turn, they will respond to your music." She is well known in the poetry circuit of Jacksonville, Fl and isworkin g to broaden my exposure. With the release of her album "Reacquainted" and future shows, she will restore the faith that good, conscious, soulful music is still at play.
