"Las Vegas Native, Kiari The Stone Shines Bright on His Debut Album, ‘PRMSLND’. (Album Review)"

Following the release of the Ish Himself proudced lead single, “Smile 4 Me,” Stone then followed up the jazzy track with, “Wrong Reasons,” a track that is already doing numbers on Audiomack, approaching the 12K mark, sounds as if Devon Miles from Drumline got cool with Redman and made a track with Miles Davis — yes, trumpeter, Fendi Sean, is that good. Although the singles were well chosen and cleverly calculated, the album cuts are what stands out heavily on this project. Stone showcases his stout versatility all throughout the album, simultaneously speaking on topics ranging from sunny Vegas days (“Summertime“), heritage (“Northside“), midget arms (“Anywhere“) and everything in between.

While the Norvis Junior produced, “In My Shoes” featuring an emotional cameo from Ali-47 is without a doubt one of my favorites; the two songs on the album that prove Stone is on to bigger and better things are, “Closer” and “No RZN“. “Closer,” the Cameron Love produced, groovy love-song; is a new look for Stone, but not for Love. Love, a respected producer in the Las Vegas area, shined on this beat, geniusly crafting wavy loops and hi-hat claps that had me feeling like I was listening to Kaytranada‘s eventual successor. (Side note: I was kidding Kay. Cam’s great, but we need you in the industry.) The song is so good, you find it hard not to play imaginary video-director, creating chic aesthetic visuals for the beautifully arranged track. - RESPECT. Magazine

"LAS VEGAS NATIVE KIARI THE STONE DROPS NEW ALBUM “PRMSLND”"

Las Vegas creative Kiari The Stone recently released a fantastic project with “PRMSLND.” Despite being known for his aggressive cadences and sobering wordplay, the Norf Town native transitions into a more soulful sound on the new full-length. As highlighted on the buzzing single Smile 4 Me, Stone took to using live instrumentation in his production, creating a rich and original sound rarely found within todays hip-hop climate.
“PRMSLND” serves as another progressive step in the evolution of an artist that’s ready for bright lights. Listen to Kiari The Stone’s latest below and stay tuned for more from the rising star. - Elevator Magazine

"New Music: "Closer""

Despite the horrific events that have taken place recently, Las Vegas is a city that’s usually most associated with having the time of your life. Booze, girls, and grooves run the 24-hour-town and nowhere is this essence captured better than on North Las Vegas native Kiari the Stone’s infectious new track, “Closer.” Making its debut on the 21-year-old’s buzzing debut effort, PRMSLND, the Cameron Love-produced track has caught a second wind since the album’s 7/7 release. Utilizing funky drum kicks and a scene-stealing vocal performance from singer Batee Johnson, Stone absolutely floats over the sensual production from Love, showcasing his wide range of vocal abilities and different cadences. Listen to the compelling track here and be sure to keep an eye on the emerging Norf Town artist. - REVOLT TV

"New Music: "Wrong Reasons" by Kiari The Stone"

Returning to the REVOLT TV pages, North Las Vegas artist Kiari The Stone does it again with the infectious single, "Wrong Reasons." Hailing from his debut album, PRMSLND, the track is a high-tempo yet strangely jazzy track. Thumping drum-kicks come from producer Blair Norf and the sweet, Southern horns are provided by One Militia artist, Fendi Sean. This bubbling track is on its way to becoming a hit, so be sure to check out PRMSLND. - REVOLT TV.

"Kiari the Stone: “PRMSLND” [Album Stream]"

Kiari the Stone is an artist out of Nevada. Now, before doing this write-up I listened to a couple cuts from Kiari’s previous work. His latest “PRMSLND” is extremely different than his last album “Audiopium”. Usually when an artist does this, I’m highly skeptical but here Kiari just opens up a completely new realm of music to the listener especially those familiar with everything he’s done up to this point.

The production is more hazy and smokey with Kiari the Stone doing more to ride the beat rather than just smash it to pieces. Jump into Kiari the Stone’s “PRMSLND” as he takes you into the past, into the future, on his grind and on what he’s experienced. It’s ride worth listening to and absorbing. From calm joints to bangers for the whip you won’t be disappointed in “PRMSLND”. You can stream the project below and keep it locked here as I should be reviewing it real soon. - Dead End Hip-Hop

"Kiari The Stone – Wrong Reasons"

Kiari The Stone has been building quite the buzz behind him, amassing a huge local fan base behind his mixtape, Audiopium, as well as making his stamp on the West Coast as whole. Born and raised on the North side of Las Vegas, the Sin City boy has been busy. Stone most recently opened up for Robb Bank$ on his ‘Death of My Teenage’ tour, as well as making a stop at SXSW 2017, performing as a part of his One Militia collective. While it’s been a busy 2017 for Stone so far, the best is yet to come. Gearing up to release his debut album, PRMSLND on 7/7, 20-year-old comes through with the newest single, “Wrong Reasons,” an infectious, melodically appealing track produced by frequent Freddie Gibbs collaborator, Blair Norf. Best known for his wordplay, Stone shines on this track like never before. - Boi-1Da

"RESPECT. The Track: Kiari The Stone – “Wrong Reasons (Prod. By Blair Norf)”"

Produced by frequent Freddie Gibbs collaborator, Blair Norf — also a Vegas native — “Wrong Reasons” serves as the next single off of the highly anticipated debut album by Stone, PRMSLND, following the acclaimed, “Smile 4 Me,” which we premiered in April. Layered with thumping bass kicks that are perfectly complimented by One Militia rep Fendi Sean‘s ambitious live horn melodies, the track sounds like it could be also be the lead single for the Drumline remake — just playing, Nick. Leave that alone. Stone’s effortless imagery, “I watch him toast to God with a bottle of Hen/ He said that Jesus and Tupac died for our sins,” coupled with the stout production from Norf and live instrumentation from Sean, make “Wrong Reasons” an easy go-to for, “Next To Blow” lists and PRMSLND a must-listen for any doubters. - RESPECT. "NEW SOTBMUSIC: @KIARITHESTONE - WRONG REASONS"

This one immediately got my attention because of the horns, played by Fendi Sean (the production is handled otherwise by Freddie Gibbs contributor Blair Norf). From there, we're taken on a track that discusses many of the "wrong reasons" people act the way they do. It's a short, but chilling track mainly because of the dark reasons why people go down the paths they do. I'm a fan of Kiari's wordplay and his sing-songy approach at points. Overall, it's got me looking forward to his PRMSLND project, due out on the 7th of July (also the one-year anniversary of my The Sorest Loser project, if anyone gives a damn). So, check it out below and remember to support dope music in all its forms. - SpeedOnTheBeat

"RESPECT. Premiere: Kiari The Stone – “Smile 4 Me”"

Originally titled, “Smile,” the song was featured on our With All Due RESPECT. list and received a bit of a regional buzz. Now revamped with auto-tuned ad-libs — that actually DON’T suck for once — and a new solo from featured Trumpeter Fendi Sean, the newly dubbed, “Smile 4 Me” boasts one of the more wavy videos to come out of the 702 in recent memory. Shot at, “the local neighborhood bodega” as Stone puts it, the video captures the Vegas essence down to a tee. From the slot machines at the front of the liquor store, to the “Welcome to Las Vegas” posters peeking out in the background, this video represents the city correctly. - RESPECT. Magazine

"Sin City’s Own Kiari The Stone Slows it Down With His Infectious New Track, “Smile”"

Look, we’ve all been through it. Everybody has been in a relationship where you truly feel like you’re not doing enough.Sometimes, it’s due to the other person just expecting way too much from you, and other times, it’s just you getting in your own head. Then there’s the times when you really aren’t doing enough and your instincts — or your woman — are telling you the truth. Las Vegas torch bearer KiariTheStone captures this exact feeling with the track, “Smile“.

Produced by Ish Him$elf, Kiari subs out the aggressive rhyme patterns we’ve come to expect for melodies and introspective bars that may seem shallow on the outside, but with greater thought, make so much sense. “I’m such a stoner, I can’t quit smoking. And I don’t wanna, but I couldn’t even if I wanted. That shit that haunts me” flows Stone during the opening verse, setting the tone for what might be his most personal track yet. Though Kiari flexes his pen game — and surprising vocals — throughout the whole song, the track is definitely buoyed by New Orleans native Fendi $ean and his wildly on point live trumpet melody that plays throughout the hook. - BLUNTIQ

"RESPECT. Premiere: Kiari The Stone – “Handful”"

After shutting down the initial segment of our With All Due RESPECT. series with the banging track, “Mike Jack“, Las Vegas heavyweight Kiari The Stone is back with his tenacious new single “Handful“. The track, which is a short one, features Kiari firing off sound bars in his signature aggressive style over rambunctious drum kicks from producer $ofa. From the absolute jump of the exciting track, Stone goes in with bars like, “I be hearing all the rumors/ni**as always in they feelings/How you snitch and lie to bi**hes/F**k that bullsh*t get some business” using and unorthodox cadence that is sure to lock your ears in. - RESPECT. Magazine

"Kiari The Stone Drops Teaser for Suga Free"

The visuals are dope, and we’re feeling the vibe already. The photos don’t give too much away, except it’s directed by Kiari and Creating Paradi$e. No word yet on the actual release date, but until it drops keep up with Kiari’s latest moves on Instagram & Twitter, and check out his #StoneSeason playlist. - Uxcommon

"NEW SOTBMUSIC: @KIARITHESTONE RAPS ABOUT THE PRMSLND IN NEW PROJECT"

As mentioned in my review of "Wrong Reasons," Kiari The Stone got my attention because of his wordplay and his sing-songy approach to music. That vibe continues on PRMSLND, a project that takes listeners on a journey through what makes Kiari who he is while still offering tips to gain access to some sort of a promised land.

However, the road isn't easy--as showcased in Kiari mentioning things such as seeing his life flash before his eyes and witnessing death in "Smile 4 Me" and saying that he's got no love for himself (for various reasons) on "Run." There's also tips about not giving into every desire and urge you have. But, it's this vulnerability that kept me listening to this one. Well, that, and the lyrics are great and the production is top-notch and diverse, beat-wise; there's a mix between live instrumentation and electronic/computer-based production. So, check it out below (cop a copy online when it goes live on places other than Soundcloud) and support dope music in all its forms. - SpeedOnTheBeat

"EP: KIARI THE STONE – “PRMSLND”"

If you are looking for an artist with an amazing EP, this is one to check out.

Kiari The Stone recently dropped his album, PRMSLND, which is an EP with a lot of amazing tracks. From singles “Closer” to “Summertime,” Stone speaks on his experience with life, as well as dealing with relationships, life, friends, and much more.

While the production of the album is simply amazing, the entire album is simply one that you will love. It’s not just the lyrics in the EP that is ear-pleasing, either. The entire album makes you want to drive in your car late at night and just drive. It is also an EP that just has nothing but good vibes and something you can chill to.

It is also an album that many relate to, including “Summertime,” which is a song that is about the memories of being a child and just having fun during the summer.

This EP is definitely worth listening to, and one that is unforgettable. - Jas The Doll

"ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: KIARI THE STONE"

Just ahead the release of his debut album PRMSLND, Sin City artist Kiari The Stone delivers us a new track to warm us up to what will be in store.

“Wrong Reasons” is a grungy hip-hop inspire track that compliment Kiari style. Born and raised on the North side of Las Vegas, Kiari The Stone has been building quite the buzz, amassing a huge local fan base behind his mixtape. The Sin City boy has been busy. Stone recently opened up for Robb Bank$ on his ‘Death of My Teenage’ tour, as well as SXSW 2017, and more. Stone started 2017 with a bang and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon! - Only Jay Raw

"Kiari the Stone Takes Us to the PRMSLND"

As one of 10 siblings growing up in North Las Vegas, life came at Kiari the Stone fast. That might be why the 21-year-old rapper seems wiser than his years.

“In the North, you learn ain’t shit sweet,” Kiari says in a tone that doesn’t require further elaboration.

Despite his surroundings, Kiari’s done alright for himself. He’s found a fledgling success in music. He’s got his own apartment in Las Vegas proper for him and his two pit bulls—2-year-old Willow and 5-month-old pup Norf. It isn’t luxurious, but it’s his.

“I made my surroundings my own promised land,” Kiari says. “It looks different to other people than it does to me because I know how long it took.”

He shares that journey in all of its sweet anguish on his latest album, PRMSLND. It’s a stark, autobiographical look at life through the lens of a kid from Northtown who wasn’t a victim of his environment, but a victor. As such, the album can get grim. I think I’m flying / I feel like dying, he raps in his shaky drawl on “Smile 4 Me,” before turning on the camera: The first time I seen a nigga get shot was at an MLK parade. It isn’t completely dark, though. There are flourishes of happiness in dance cut “Closer” and in the breezy “Summertime,” which recalls his childhood fondly, even if it was “five kids in a twin bed, two at the leg, three at the head.”

Though North Town shaped his perspective, Kiari had to leave his comfort zone to get to where he’s at. “I woke up and was on the same shit every day,” he says.

Now he’s focused more than ever. “I’ve caught momentum and I’ve lost momentum. I’ve lost momentum from being cocky and I’ve lost momentum from being comfortable. I don’t want that to happen again,” he says.

Locked in, Kiari’s putting everything he’s got into music. It’s the only thing he was ever really good at, he says. As a student at Las Vegas Academy, he fell deep in it. He played bass and keyboard in high school bands but once he jumped on the mic, he never looked back. That’s when he joined neo-soul and hip-hop band Noir Movement, his gritty raps balancing singer Audrey Brazelle’s sultry vocals.

Even Kiari’s solo projects are a group effort. He designed PRMSLND specifically to have an organic sound so members of Noir Movement can join him in the studio and on stage. “The fact that I know that I have a band and have that resource, I can’t take it for granted,” he says. He learned that after his first album, which didn’t translate well in a live setting. “I felt like I was doing my band a disservice. … This time I wanted to do something a little bit more groovy and a little bit smoother, so I can bring them with me everywhere I go.”

Kiari just might be onto something with that smoother, jazzier sound. Since dropping in July, PRMSLND has generated a modest music blog buzz, garnering him new fans from across the map. It took him to the Bay Area, where he just wrapped up a short run of shows.

Sitting in his apartment with a blunt in his hand and the sunlight peeking through the blinds, the dread-haired emcee looks like a long lost Marley. Playing with Norf in between puffs, Kiari seems like a typical 21-year-old. He’s stoned, having fun and making music with his friends. He might seem content, but he’s far from it.

“I’m not 100 percent happy,” he says. “That’s the thing about the ‘promised land.’ You’re always in it, and you never completely reach it. It’s a forever thing.” - Vegas Seven Magazine
