Kick Bricks

Kick Bricks formed in 2007, to perform what we believed at the time was a one-off performance to raise money for Montiefiore- a special -education school on Chicago's west side. However, the performance went so well and the chemistry of the band was so apparent, that we decided to keep it going. Since that initial performance, we have played at a variety of venues to diverse crowds all over the city of Chicago.
The band boasts three strong songwriters and many influences: from jam-band, hip-hop, funk, and rock & roll, to reggae, alt -country, punk, & garage. We play acoustic and/ or electric sets, incorporating a variety of instrumental configurations and frequent guest artists.
The Kick Brick Sound is what you would probably get if you mixed Jimmy Hendrix with The Fugees, The Grateful Dead with Common, or Carlos Santana with Jill Scott. It continues to evolve, with each performance. We are at our best in a live setting; mixing- up set lists on the fly and improvising on stage. Our sound is not pre-conceived, it is just what organically happens when this group of people from four very different musical backgrounds get together and play.

People who come out to Kick Bricks shows typically represent a variety of ethnic and racial backgrounds. They are brought together by a kaleidoscope of sounds and textures.
