In 2005 when Jeff and Ed met, they were playing in a band based in Pennsville, N.J. The set list was long, the songs were good, but Jeff and Ed were restless. Ed left the band in 06' and Jeff in 08' From then on an idea was coming that had been there all along. Why not play music we liked?
Jeff had always had an acoustic show and varied set list that spanned rock and some coutry, boogie, blues etc. Ed liked this list and was asked to play at his show. So with guitar and drums only, Jeff and Ed set out to do a show together. With bands the included America, Neil Young, The Guess Who, Keith Urban, Toby Keith and some originals by Jeff, they had a successful outing and an idea hatched. So they went into action.
Now, Kickin' Back was formed to do music acoustically based for fun. No political songs, songs about drug addiction, etc. Just make music that makes people relax, tap their toes, sing along and "Kick Back" No blarring guitars, loud obnoxious vocals or songs that you can listen to all the time on your radio. We play songs that you haven't heard in a while, unless you turn them on yourselves. That's where the real magic begins.......with you the listener!
Our originals fall into the catagory of folk/blues combination with overtones of country. We will be writing more material in the future and hope to have that on this site as soon as possible.
