Kicks and Khords

In a world rampant with diversity and division, Kicks & Khords came into existence as the resulting catch-all brainchild of Daniel “DSII” Saldivar and Jake Lloyd in February 2010. A heavy emphasis on superb musical production with organic and powerfully true lyrics led the duo to make huge strides in building their reputation as a talent to keep watchful eyes on. Lloyd and Saldivar soon released their first LP, “Wishful Thinking,” in August 2010 under the alias Kicks & Khords, and so it began.

While recording “Wishful Thinking,” Saldivar’s long-time college acquaintance James Price (guitar) showed an interest in working with the duo. After recording one song on the LP, Price accepted an offer to play guitar full-time for Kicks & Khords, proving to be the ultimate catalyst in the groups’ transition from an undefined trio to an indefinable music powerhouse. Jake Rabin, who played drums with Price since they were in grade school, jumped on board soon after, as did Jim Harris (bass), who was friends with Price throughout college as well.

And then there were five!

Kicks & Khords pride themselves on their diverse and indescribable sound. And they play hard. Extremely hard. So what does that mean for a spectator? The chills. Definitely a few helpless smiles. Absolutely some uncontrolled dancing. And guaranteed heavy head banging: all the wonderful and amazing aspects of live music that the world has so shamefully forgotten as important! That being the case, consider Kicks & Khords a reintroduction to raw, true, musical talent; a vehicle for taking emotions, thoughts and desires, and putting them into emotionally communicative sound. Kicks & Khords strives every waking moment to define and redefine their own dynamic feel. But they know one thing for certain: choose to follow them down the rabbit hole, and you will get your mind blown.
