"10 Ten Unsigned Bands in Orange County"

Kick Starter is from Long Beach, which we've annexed to Orange County because so many bands are based there and LA doesn't pay it much attention. We spun their tape on our box just after we got back from a field trip to the folkie-riddled Lilith Fair, which could have used a band with a fraction of Kick Starter's energy, even if it is all-male. They play the kind of old-school punk that used to crank out of CBGB's in 1976-you know, the good kind of punk before it devolved into speed metal back in the early '80s. They have an obvious lust for the Ramones (which scores big points with us), and their beefy guitars, booming drums, rubber-band bass and Chris Ban's classic, nasal whine percolate wonderfully together like a morning carafe of gourmet coffee. Their garage-level simplicity also convinces you that anyone can be in a band, and wasn't that demystification part of what punk was all about? - Orange County Weekly

Whether you call it glam, sleaze, trash, punk, or bluesy hard rock. KICKSTARTER plays it loud, fast, rebellious, aggressive and downright nasty. KICKSTARTER combines the sights and sounds of early 80s glam with late 70s punk and a healthy dose of blues. KICKSTARTER is now based in San Francisco. KICKSTARTER is:Danny Dee (lead vocals), Sean Lavelle (guitar) Alex Aldrich (drums) and Chris Ban (bass).
