What ever it is it’s got to be
funky! With sounds of Hip Hop, Funk, Bass, Breaks, Ghetto Funk, Trap and House,
Kicko keeps the party active, blending many genres, adapting live on the spot. Starting
as an Events and Radio DJ spinning 90’s Hip Hop in Niagara Falls, Ontario, he
would hone his skills as a turntablist. Active in the music scene organizing Open
Mic nights, Music Showcases and Niagara’s first ever Hip Hop radio show on 1220
CHSC. After a few years getting his feet wet, he would move to Brooklyn, exposed
to more eclectic sounds he added to his collection spinning House, Funk,
Electro and Indie music. There he would come up in the LES/Williamsburg party
scene, sharing stages with Roxy Cottontail, Ninja Sonik, ARQ, SOUL Purpose, Mr.
Star City, Boy’n’Girl, Preyers, Murdertronics, Anton Glamb, Sound Advice,
Spanish Fly, Hoowie Doo, Cobra Krames, SLM PCKNS and more.
After five years in the New York underground scene Kid
Kicko would relocate to Whistler BC, a resort party town nestled in the
mountains of western Canada. Developing his sound even further playing Ghetto
Funk, Breaks, Trap and a variety of House music. Being extremely versatile Kid
Kicko would frequent the decks playing in nightclubs, special events and festivals
in and around the sea to sky corridor. Either as guest or featured DJ you can
find Kicko along side international song selectors like Stickybuds, AfroQben, Propa
Tingz, Itchy & Scratchy Dj’s, Phroh, Canosis, Crystal Fresh, Dj Priaze,
Rich-A, Foxy Moron, Vinyl Ritchie, Chilli Tom, Infectious, Benny Freebound,
&E, Rob Banks and more.
Kid Kicko has performed at music festivals including
Believe, Tribal Revival, Sanctuary, H20 Water Fest, World Ski and Snowboard
Fest and a collection of music festivals in remote locations as far as Costa
Rica. Whatever the sub genres, if its good music, he plays it. But it’s got to
be funk!
