Kid Mac is an artist.

One part musician : one part filmmaker : One part very proud family man and surfer from the Southern Beaches of Sydney, Australia. Tireless, restless, connected and heavily armed with a seemingly endless creative flow, Mac is certain to keep colour and culture pouring into the world through his music, film and media projects.

Already an established musician and filmmaker, Kid Mac is staring down the barrel of what will surely be his biggest years yet, with several major projects on the boil and constant ideas for more as soon as time permits. Anyway you look at it it’s clear that this is the beginnings of an empire.

On the music front - May 2012 will see the release of Kid Mac’s debut album “No Man’s Land” for both Austra- lia and international markets. To support this release it will be back-to back-tours both headlining and support- ing for the most part of 2012.

On the movie front - November 2011 saw his second feature length cinema release (after “Bra Boys” - 2007, Australia’s highest grossing documentary), “Fighting Fear” through Mac’s production company KM MVMNT. 2012 will be devoted to the “The Crew”, a 10-part observational reality TV Show (Fuel TV), that takes up where the movie leaves off and follows the life of the two stars of the movie, Mark Matthews and Richie Vas and Kid Mac in their pursuit to reach the top of their game and have one crazy ride doing it.

Mac has already cemented himself as an established artist but in the years ahead it is very clear that his profile and the profile of those he is teamed with will gain massive exposure through his music and visual media proj- ects. We very strongly believe that the cross promotion possibilities and ability for creative co-marketing with like-minded brands are huge especially if are all talking to the same target market. As stated, we are looking for partners to share both the journey and the rewards. We whole-heartedly believe in the team approach where everyone involved shares the benefits and all come out on top. - HummingBird PR / Pistol Artist Services

"NO MAN'S LAND" NATIONAL TOUR ANNOUNCED!
Monday, 21st May 2012
Kid Mac’s No Mans Land tour kicks off on June 29 to celebrate the release of Mac’s highly anticipated album which was released on May 4.

Kid Mac delivered his first track off the album in April - the super punchy ‘SHE GOES OFF’ featuring US artist Mickey Avalon. She Goes Off has already clocked over 100,000 views on YouTube and features cameo’s from Snoop Dogg, Steve Aoki and Sarah McLeod. The song is getting airplay on Nova nationally and MTV. It’s just a taste of what’s to come from one of Australia’s emerging talents.

“It's been a long time coming and something I have been working towards for several years. I feel like I've taken my time with it and as a result have found a sound that I am comfortable and proud of. The material in the record is a good representation of me but also something a lot of people will relate to.” Kid Mac

No Man’s Land reviews are starting to pour in with media embracing the album:

Rolling Stone Mag - “Sydney MC impresses on long-awaited debut... The Sydneysider’s gritty, edgy, punk-esque hip hop is not only fraught with pep, but it’s also accessible”.

Rave Magazine: “No Man’s Land is slick and shiny, but most importantly, it’s fresh.”

At the back of an Australian tour with Mickey Avalon, Kid Mac will head off on his headline tour.

Bio

Macario De Souza is a 28-year-old filmmaker and musician (a.k.a Kid Mac). Born in Sydney, Australia, he gained an interest in film at age 14 when he borrowed a Hi-8 camera from his sister. Two years later he bought his own mini-DV camera and started filming his mates surfing at Maroubra Beach. Hailing from Sydneys south, Kid Mac has carved a name for himself in the Australian music scene with a sound that sets him apart from other artists. With lyrics that capture the experiences of todays youth, super catchy sing along melodies, dance floor beats and a fine-tuned live presence,

Mac has spent much of the past few years in the studio writing and working alongside Melbourne-based producers Twice As Nice. The release of Freedom set the scene, while collaborations with acts like Mat McHugh (The Beautiful Girls) on hugely popular track Hear You Calling and the release of his single Nobody Sleep Nobody Get Hurt alongside his feature film Fighting Fear have kept fans anticipating a long-time-coming debut LP release.

Outside the studio, Mac has been hitting the touring circuit with his 3 piece band in tow blowing up dance floors here and overseas including supports for US artist Mickey Avalon, Brazils Marcelo D2, The Beautiful Girls, Bliss N Eso, The Game and a personal request from RZA to join Wu Tang Clans Australian tour. All this plus several of his own headline shows, appearances at Playground Weekender Festival and Ripe Festival and a Best Urban Artist 2010 at the MusicOz Awards has seen Kid Macs fan-base grow and arsenal of tracks build and strengthen.

(More about Macario De Souza AKA Kid Mac)
After graduating in 2001 from South Sydney High School, where he was school captain, he completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree (2004), majoring in time-based art, at the University of New South Wales College of Fine Arts.

His first film project, Ours, focused on his lifestyle pursuit of surfing. The short film won two awards (Mambo Snap Off The Lip Surf Film Festival 2004 and 2004 Youth Week Film Festival). The film won media praise and was later included in a Tracks surfing magazine DVD compilation. The following year he again won the Snap Off The Lip Surf Film Festival with follow-up short film, The Hard Way. He also won industry acclaim when he made his debut as director in the gritty short drama, Grommets.

Macs first feature-length film, Bra Boys, is the highest grossing documentary in Australian history. The film was edited in a bedroom of his modest family unit near Maroubra Beach, the home of the Bra Boys, and managed to win multiple awards including Best Documentary (X-Dance Film Festival & Film Ink Awards) His other credits in the film include Co-Director, Cinematographer as well as performing several tracks for the films soundtrack.

Mac was subsequently engaged as a Producer/Shooter on South Side Story, a six-part observational documentary on one of Australias most famous Rugby League clubs in history, South Sydney Rabbitohs and the take over of their new owners Russell Crowe and Peter Holmes A Court.

He also Produced 2 seasons of Fox 8s hit reality series, Football Superstar followed by several Surfing programs and music videos.

Macs latest feature project was Fighting Fear, a feature-length documentary following fellow Bra Boys Mark Mathews (Professional Big Wave Surfer) and Richie Vas Vaculik (Professional MMA Fighter and Big Wave Surfer). Fighting Fear is Macs 2nd theatrical release with an Australian cinema release in November 2011. It was one of the best performing documentaries in Australia for 2011.

2013-14 sees major growth for Kid Mac's presence as an explosive musical artist and film maker. With official selection to perform/showcase at the 2014 South by Southwest Music Festival (SXSW) in March, recent completion of a Canada "I Get Even" Tour with Mickey Avalon, a mind blowing performance at the "Playboy Mansion Halloween Festival", and a full Australian Tour in progress, Kid Mac aims to solidify his presence in the United States. His team aims to spread his artistic talent through some of the more influential radio stations, music festivals, concerts, venues, and college campuses coast to coast. Macs debut LP album No Man's Land is still thriving and his sophomore record Headnoise is climbing great heights with a number two spot on the Aussie Indie Charts, with positive reviews from Rolling Stone Magazine, and other key publications/scales. With several TV and film projects in the pipeline, and a new album that brings together his talents to creatively enforce electro, hip hop, rock, pop, and other dynamic genres, Kid Mac looks to only gain further momentum through music and media venture on a worldwide level.
