Bio

It was the year 1990, the exact same day one of the most influential rock bands of the 1960’s, The Byrds, reunited for the first time in 25 years to perform at a Los Angeles tribute to Roy Orbison, Regan ‘Kijani Julez’ Tyson was born. Originally from Guyana, the land of rivers and plains, Kijani grew up in the third world streets of City West St. John’s Antigua surrounded by the musical culture of Calypso and Soca. Despite of the fact that the hip-hop/rap music genre was never a key factor of this small Caribbean island, Kijani fell in love with composing and performing Rap/R&B songs at the age of eleven. Teaming up with two fellow childhood friends now deemed family, Kijani Julez, Kush no Bush and Jelani Kemet formed an unstoppable hip hop/rap group called ‘Gazini’. Releasing their first Mixtape in December 2006 (under their previous name ‘Pimp Thugz’), entitled ‘Self Explanatory’, the trio gained much recognition and respect from the public as young phenomenal lyricists. Gazini was also featured in the vybes fm ‘Rage In The Cage’ freestyle competition, where Gazini was the only group to have all members in the ‘King Of The Cage’ competition (a higher staked sequel to the rage in the cage competition) all at once. Their next accomplishment was representing Antigua in an international music competition, slip n slide records’ (Florida Record Label) ‘On Da Grind’. Much ground was gained through their 2nd mixtape ‘3 Kings’ (Under the name ‘Conscious Thugz’). 3 Kings has attracted a mass of attention for its innovative concepts, lyrical mastery and catchy flows. Kijani’s latest accomplishment was Gazini’s 3rd mixtape entitled ‘Better Late Than Never’, a 19 track compilation CD which showcased the years of experience as writers and performers released earlier in 2012. Gazini has proven their selves time and time again, surpassing all expectations. Gazini has been blazing the national airwaves with singles like ‘Make it Bounce’, ‘Ghetto’, ‘When I Think of You’ and more recently ‘Busy on her Blackberry’ and ‘Altitude’ being spun in rotation at various radio stations and clubs in Antigua. This dedicated group has also performed at most clubs in Antigua, even the ‘Wadadli’s Music Fest’ powered by Causion’s FullWerks Productions, but perhaps their most memorable and inspiring performance occurred at Gazini Entertainment’s first official party entitled ‘Altitude – Come Fly With The Stars’ which had a turn-out that exceeded expectations for an introductory event. From writing, performances, to studio recording and music video production, Gazini is involved in every aspect of their career, vowing to put their country on the map, by producing multi-platinum records and an international brand.
