Bio

Killa beatz is a new blend of music and adrenalized culture spawned from many different scenes in and around downtown NYC. Drawing inspiration from street culture such as grafitti, hip-hop and high fashion street wear, Killa Beatz likes the phrase 'punk-hop' or 'street rock.'

Embracing the pounding beatz and partying of early rap, Killa Beatz are serious about having fun, combining huge drums with a wall of killer riffs and vocals to inspire you to get up and dance. We call it street rock. What is Street Rock? Is Killa Beatz hip-hop? Hip-hop and rock are both attitudes. Killabeatz is as hip-hop as Def Leppard. There's very little rapping involved, they sing/flow over gigantic beatz and riffz. It's futuristic, not retro, and like the evolution of the humble sneaker, Killa Beatz is hand-made, personalized and light years beyond what the rest of the world is wearing and listening to.

Of course, if you haven't noticed, street culture is taking over the world. From graffiti to urban fashion, Killa Beatz takes its visual cues from these underated art forms. Band members are huge fans of such international design groups such as Ric Blackshaw's Scrawl Collective in the UK, France's 123Klan started by Scien and Klo, Frankenstyles in Dublin, and American companies like Urban Medium on the west coast or Hydro 74 in Florida, and, of course, some of NYs newer artists such as Serf.

On the fashion front, dont expect white t-shirts and faded Levis here, members of the band obsess about uber-exclusive and limited-edition streetwear like Japanese Evisu jeans and skater/street wear from downtown boutiques like Supreme, SSUR and Prohibit. The KB style ethos is this: whether it comes off the dirty walls of NYC or from exclusive shops like Clientele, it's living and usable art. No need for a TV inspiration, it's all in downtown NYC.

Street culture is as real as it gets, and Killa Beatz is at the forefront of this evolution. The band permeates this energy into their music, their insane shows, their fashion and all that they do. It's an inspiration that has led them to make their own soundtrack to blow your pants off. The ultimate proof: their live performances. Live they are amazing, ballistic, energetic, unpredictable, and most importantly, fun (never taking themselves too seriously!)

Killa Beatz represents the unity of a band, a city, and its people. New York City, New Yorkers, the whole world, and all its dirty, graffiti covered buildings and Killa Beatz are one!
