Bio

KILL’EM KAZZ also known as Mark E. Barrett was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario at the Scarborough General Hospital on April, 25, 1991. From there he would reside in Galloway which has a reputation as one of the most notorious neighbourhoods in Scarborough known for drugs, guns, and its high crime rate. Kazz came up in the rough conditions of the metro-housing projects, by his single mother.
Kazz became aware of his new found talent sometime in the eighth grade, around the age of 13. Classmates would complement him on the pre-written verses he would rap, and that urged him to really pursue his soon to be music career. His late interest in hip hop music was forced by his mother’s negative views on the whole genre. She believed that anyone or anything associated with hip hop and rap was negative and was only looking for a way to avoid school. In late 2004, him and some close friends in the neighbourhood created a group called Young Ones Entertainment, which included underground rappers such as M-ROC, and others. By 2005 they already had a few tracks recorded using their computers and a simple production program called Cool Edit Pro. After a few months everyone in the group either, moved out of the area, found other interests, or decided to start their solo movement in today’s hip hop culture.
In the summer of 2008, soon after Kazz had been released from a Youth Detention Centre for violent related offences, he linked up with recording artist, Cokekey$ Car’tel, and later they would form BCB ( Breakfast Club Boys ). After the group got registered, it was all about making good music and that wasn’t a problem for the two talented young artists. Kazz went a real studio a few times with Cokekey$ attempting to master the art of recording. After making a variety of songs with real life concepts and different types of beats, Kazz decided it was time for his music to be heard by the public. He signed up with different sites such as Myspace, Facebook, Youtube, etc in order to get his music out and into peoples’ speakers. He was getting good reviews from friends and fans from all over the city, but there was still something missing, a mixtape! This is when the idea of Juvenile Hustle came into effect, but due to production issues the CD was not released on the expected date of the 2009 Caribanna Festival. However, this only motivated him even more to release the CD, which he renamed Sophisticated Hustle: The Sample Mixtape.
In November 2009, Kazz met with a representative from Press Play Productions (a production company) , and they worked together to create a DJ Mix CD which Kazz would be the host of. Currently he has a feature on the street anticipated mixtape ‘M.H.F.’ by Cokekeys Car’tel titled, ‘Canadian Kush’. At only 18 years of age, Kazz’s raw talent to write and record hit songs and his incredible self-promoting abilities have earned him a name in Canada’s underground world as well as a supportive fan base which he continues to work hard for. With the growing success of his new single titled ‘Hey Shawty’ it’s only a matter of time before everyone in Toronto knows the name, KILL’EM KAZZ. His first mixtape, Sophisticated Hustle: The Sample Mixtape debuted in November and is available in various retail stores as well as online. Now he's working on the next mixtape and this time he's going in!
