"Introducing Killer Moon"

Killer Moon was formed by Jesse Garza, Alejandro Santoyo and Amaris Aviles in the summer of 2007 in Chicago. The group honed in on their sound for about a year before deciding to take their talents to South Florida to play for former cocaine cowboys and Haitian refugees. Garza, Santoyo and Aviles were in Miami for 2 years playing shows and living under the same roof until the two decided to move back to the Chicago on Thanksgiving in 2010.

Upon their return to the Windy City, Killer Moon started playing shows at a break neck pace. The trio has recently started touring in the Midwest and continues to draw increasingly larger crowds in Chicago.

Killer Moon’s new album, Tunnel Vision, was recorded at Engine Studios with producer and musical wizard Sanford Parker. Tunnel Vision will be released in the upcoming months but no official date has been set yet.

Influences: the Doors, Black Sabbath, OM, Boris, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin

Speaking as a person that has heard them, Killer Moon are the next big thing to come from Chicago. Listen to “Tunnel Vision,” the title track from their upcoming release. - Thesodashop.wordpress.com

"Killer Moon with CZAR and Angle Eyes"

“Expect a heavy and occasionally surreally beautiful night. Weavers of psych, doom, acid and stoner rock, Killer Moon have recently finished their new album, Tunnel Vision…we're certainly excited to hear the complex sounds and inventive themes translated live” - flavorpill.com

"Moon Over Miami"

“Killer Moon balances old influences against new ones… brings to mind southern California hippies tripping on peyote, but they also sound like some of the tribal bits on Neurosis records… The group has settled on a couple of major themes—heaviness and drugginess. These elements nicely complement the classic stuff like Black Sabbath and the Doors.” - Chicago Reader

Bio

Killer Moon is a psychedelic rock jam band. Extended instrumentals paired with ambient vocals make Killer Moon a must see for anyone looking to expand their mind and musical horizons.
The band was formed by Jesse Garza, Alejandro Santoyo, and Amaris Aviles in the summer of 2007 in Chicago. The group honed in on their sound for a few months before deciding to take their talents to South Florida. Jesse, Alex and Amaris were in Miami for 2 years playing shows and living under the same roof until the trio decided to move back to Chicago on Thanksgiving in 2009.

Upon their return to the Windy City, Killer Moon started playing shows at a break neck pace. In the winter of 2009 the band started jamming and recorded a 2 song EP that was handed out in the cold streets of Chicago. The 2 Song EP birthed the song Azul (formerly known as the Santana Song) that payed tribute to the set Santana played at Woodstock 69 It also included the piece From The Jaws Of The Vision Serpent which would trigger the arrival of the Psychedelic Doom Self-Titled Album which Sanford Parker produced in the winter of 09

In 2010 Killer Moon started to play every where in Chicago From major Venues like Empty Bottle, Hideout, Reggies, Coles, Double Door, to DIY venues like Treasure Town, The Beerics, and The Burlington to name a few. In Between playing shows the band continued to write new music and returned to studio again to record the 6 song set called Tunnel Vision.
The transition with this record really transformed not only the music but also each individual member. The Journey would no longer be the same. The 6 song set on Tunnel Vision would only spark the journey to the new chain of songs the band has been working on.

With 2012 already here the band started the year aggressively. The Albums have been sent to be pressed and the first release will be Tunnel Vision. Followed by that would be the 2 song EP that was given out back in 09 Along with the Self-Titled Album Killer Moon that was recorded with Sanford Parker back in 09

When asked the question why the wait with these albums?
Why release the latest album first?
The band responded: These past 6 years of playing in Killer Moon and being friends for a long time we as a band have gone through a lot. From fights with one another to questioning ourselves on spirituality and friendship we needed to know if this was something we really wanted to commit to and go forth with. in 2010 we decided to spend some time away from each other to focus in on what was important for us as individual artists. The band did not stop playing shows when the trio decided to take some time off. Chris Avergin came in the picture and filled in on drums for a few months. Though I didnt play during those month with the band Jesse and I stayed in contact continued to share ideas and work on the music. Said drummer Alejandro Santoyo. We recorded these songs countless of times until we found the right sound that felt right to us. said guitar player Jesse Garza.

Summer of 2011 drummer Alejandro Santoyo returns to the band full time again after spending time away. We picked up where we left off, Alex was already playing shows with us during the summer so having him back made the writing process a lot easier, we have been writing new material like clock work and it has been amazing. says bass player Amaris Aviles.
Killer Moon deciding to release the latest record first was because those were the songs that brought them the birth of the new tunes. These songs were a celebration, like a fire burning they parade around it constantly feeding their minds with new music and allowing the energy to take them somewhere new. With plans to head to the studio in the early summer of 2012 the band has been writing new material taking time off the road and planning the next tour along with designing the 3 albums set to be released this year.
We have a lot of work to do but we are ready to play in other cities, said Aviles. Having already played Miami, Nashville, Chicago and surrounding cities on their own, its not a question 2012 is going to be a momentous year for the trio. It will only be a matter of time until they hit the US.
