"LIVE. The Cooly Hotel. Strung Out, The Loved Ones, Kill the Apprentice."

The show opened with local favourites Kill the Apprentice, a 4 piece punk rock band who attempted to hijack Strung Out's show by making the night their self titles EP launch party.
KTA ripped through their set of hammering riffs, galloping drums and sexuality which could almost be describes as thrash rock. Maybe this genre of music doesn't exist yet, but their music was too fast for rock and their stage show to sexualized for punk. The sexualization was largely thanks to their provocative, leather clad, front woman Kristy Weise, one hot, stylish chick who can also sing and growl. She also has a presence which led me to think despite her slender frame, she could quite easily beat up a gang of Coolan-ghetto warriors without even taking off her stilettos.
Unfortunately (or fortunately) for Kristy, KTA is no Blondie as her band also vies for the attention of the crowd, regularly standing on the fold backs and addressing the audience between songs. All this was enough to win KTA some fresh new fans including both American bands who both gave praise to KTA during their own sets. - Australian Hysteria Magazine

Bio

In the year 2005, Kill the Apprentice began their reign of mayhem upon the local South East QLD/Northern NSW live music scene with their own unique brand of Punk Rock'n'Roll. Always causing a stir at each and every party-inducing show they play.......

The pace KTA set for themselves has seen some line-up changes over the years but 2009 saw the most solid line-up formed to-date.... Fronted by raging lead vocalist Kristy Wiese, partnered with the unmistakable guitar tones of Sid Constantine and grounded by the frenetic rhythm section of Diklich on bass and Tommy Creeper on drums......

Drawing on their influences of music absorbed as wasted youths growing up on a diet of pioneering punk rock'n'roll such as the Dead Kennedys, Suicidal Tendencies, Rancid, Bad Religion, The Clash, Patti Smith, PJ Harvey, Motorhead and NOFX without forgetting the rock'n'roll roots of Australia with bands like AC/DC, The Diviynls and Rose Tattoo. Kill the Apprentice punch out a sound that is true to their roots while being passionate, honest and full of energy. Something fresh, in a live music scene so drenched in waves of safe and mediocre de-tuned break-downs..... Kill the Apprentice can now lay claim to being the devil's pride of their stomping grounds of the southern Gold Coast.......

Already in 2010, KTA have released a new E.P. Completed their first overseas tour of Malaysia and Singapore, the tour diaries featured in the latest edition of nationally distributed magazine, Australian Hysteria. Kill the Apprentice was also featured and interviewed on Triple J's afternoon show with The Doctor. And upon returning home from abroad, had the opportunity to share the stage with punk rock legends, Strung Out, then in recent months featuring on Dead of Winter festival and Toddfest aswell as their own headlining shows.
With national touring now on the horizon, KTA has a foot firmly pressed against your throat and not letting up anytime soon....... LET'S GET IT ON!!!!!!......
