Bio
Kill The Signal was brought together by a good twist of fate in the Philadelphia, PA area in the summer of 2003. A week or so after moving back to the east coast from San Francisco and still wanting to create music, Richard reached out to his old and first band mate, Biej. Having been friends and playing in various titled bands since the first day of college in 1994, there was no question the chemistry was there. Although Biej can practically play any instrument, he was up for pounding the drums once again and bring the noise. However, a piece was missing. They needed the balls and bass.
Coming off of touring as vocalist for the well known and kick-ass hardcore band, Go! For The Throat, Mr. Olsen was living in Philly and ready to pick up the bass again. Mr. Olsen and Richard played in the post-punk band, Fire in the Radio during 2000-2002 having released an album on Wednesday Records. The dissolution of G!FTT in late 2002 freed up Mr. Olsen's time to write and rock in Kill The Signal.
So, through the gracious efforts, blood, sweat and tears of Biej, and his very nice Uncle, Biej converted a room in his house to a studio in the summer of 2003, collectively titled Unk Studios. Once complete, they started writing what would now be their first e.p./demo which has been influenced by the likes of Hot Water Music, Braid and Fugazi.
Early 2005 will see Kill The Signal's first release on badgiraffe records, owned and operated by Richard and his wife, Maia, along with weekend tours and shows throughout the spring and summer. Come check them out!
