Biography

Kimberlie Helton is a singer/songwriter born in the home of the blues... Memphis, TN. After graduating from high school in Clinton, MS, she moved to the small town of Henderson, TN to attend Freed Hardeman University and pursue her passion for music.

Helton makes the 2 1/2 hour drive to Nashville often to write music and perform at local venues. Having performed at Tootsies and Rippy's on Broadway, she enjoys entertaining tourists from around the world who come to Nashviile to be a part of the history of country music. Helton jokingly attributes her musical background to sharing a birthday with Elvis Presley, and brings crowds to their feet when she performs her spunky version of ""Jailhouse Rock.""

With a powerful voice full of bluesy, soulful influence, Helton found herself struggling to fit into the classic country scene. Wanting to stay true to her own style, she has since found her niche performing what country music artist, Joanna Cotten, calls ""Funkabilly!""

Although Helton leaves crowds wanting more with favorites such as "Sweet Child of Mine," "Purple Rain," and "Folsom Prison Blues", she says there is no greater feeling than looking out into the crowd and seeing fans sing along to songs that we've written ourselves! Her first single to get radio airtime is "Nobody Gets Me This Way" cowritten with Jonathan King of Medina, TN. It was chosen to be the featured song in the August 2009 edition of the Colgate Country Showdown's online magazine!

Since forming the Kimberlie Helton Band in July of 2009, she has been blessed with opportunities to work with W.S. Holland, the last standing member of the Johnny Cash band, as June Carter Cash in the Johnny Cash Tribute Show, and open for many Grand Ole Opry Legends, including Jim Ed Brown, Jeannie Seely, and T. Graham Brown. She has also opened for several new country music artists, including Ash Bowers and Jonathan Singleton and the Grove.

In May 2010, she had the pleasure of opening for established country artist, Randy Houser, most popular for hit singles, "Boots On," and "Anything Goes." In February of 2011, they opened for hot new country artist, THE BAND PERRY, known for "Hip to My Heart," "If I Die Young," and the single presently climbing the charts, "You Lie."

At the 2010CMA Music Fest, Helton beat out nearly 200 contestants in an open mic contest sponsored by ConAgra Foods, in which Jamie O'Neal was a celebrity judge. The $2,500 prize package included an all expense paid trip to the CMA AWards in November.
