Bio

Singer/songwriter Kimberly Korn has had stars in her eyes and glitter in her hair since she was a little girl. Mesmerized by Broadway, Barbies and Ballerinas, Kimberly began dancing at 2 1/2 years old and rarely took off her recital costumes. Always the entertainer, Kimberly put on weekly song and dance shows for the neighborhood adding comedy in between to get a rise out of the audience. As a member of the elementary school choir, Kimberly preferred tutus and sequins over her choir uniform and didn't like harmonizing as part of a group. Her choir teacher suggested she study privately with famed-vocal coach Russell Faith in Philadelphia. After several years of vocal training, Kimberly was itching to break into the New York music scene. She spent her adolescent years shuttling between Philadelphia and New York doing the "Fame" thing: attending Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Camp with Natalie Portman and Mandy Moore, dancing with the Joffrey Ballet and choreographers Mia Michaels and Debbie Allen, and singing roles in Off-Broadway musicals, such as Meatloaf-producer Jim Steinman's "Paradise." Addicted to learning more about the performing arts, Kimberly soon discovered avant-garde theatre works by writers Samuel Beckett, Bertolt Brecht and Edward Albee and was immediately drawn to the concept of showing an audience a truth that they may not want to see.

Although she grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania, Kimberly came back to her New York roots to hone her performing skills, settling in Manhattan's East Village. She began integrating her newfound independence and her awareness of the ruthlessness and reality of life into her musical compositions. Kimberly made a name for herself performing at various local clubs such as the Bitter End and Arlene’s Grocery, incorporating her passion for theatre, dance, music and outrageous fashion. Sensitive to the human condition, Kimberly creates music that attests to life’s struggles.

Writing about situations such as burning an ex’s possessions (Love Lose Learn) and admitting to being completely imperfect (Broken Inside), Kimberly captures the essence of what it is like to push the boundaries of what is accepted as the norm. Along the way, Kimberly received input into her musical development from such notable music professionals as Frank Fillipetti, producer of James Taylor and Carly Simon, and Simon Andrews, owner of Right Track Recording Studios in New York City. Her music was later introduced to fellow Philadelphian singer Pink who became a mentor to Kimberly.

While a student at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, Kimberly was introduced to luminary producer/writer, Tommy Faragher. With combined record sales of over 10 million, an ASCAP Pop Award to his credit, as well as writing the hit "With Every Beat of My Heart" for Taylor Dayne, Tommy had the experience to notice Kimberly's talent, hunger and drive for musical success.

Immersed in the life of a New York recording artist, Kimberly made her morning subway trek to Tommy's Brooklyn recording studio where she recorded and Tommy produced some of her current material. While recording, Kimberly continued to perfect her musical production through nightly gigs in the Village and writing songs for her demo. She is now working with producer Chris Rojas (Teddy Geiger, Pink) who has helped take Kimberly's sound to a new level. With an ear to her surroundings and an eye for the East Village culture, Kimberly brings the soundtrack of her life to her audience.
