Bio
Kim Capps is the real deal. Her songs and her powerful delivery all touch the soul on her new CD âBlues Gonna Show the Wayâ.
When Kim sings, she brings it and she owns it. In addition to her strong, beautiful voice, she is a songwriter with a unique ability to access joy and pain in a way that invites the l Wheistener to join right in and come along for the ride.
A lifelong performer, she first became known locally leading the Unusual Suspects. She found her true voice when she dove head first into the acoustic blues. She is a valued member of the Barbershop jams sponsored by the Archie Edwards Blues Heritage Foundation (www.acousticblues.com).
The blues got into her heart and they shape her songwriting and musical connection. She wails Robert Johnsonâs âLove in Vainâ with depth and beautiful dynamics. She becomes a sensuous siren on her own âDeep Blue. In another original, âRaise Your Voiceâ, she claims and shares the powerful right to ask the right questions. These and all cuts on âBlues Gonna Show the Wayâ showcase her ability to sing blues and gospel side by side. In her able hands the listener is gifted with music that echoes our human need for both tears and vision, expressed through sorrow and hope.
Sheâs influenced by her study and collaborations with many amazing musicians of the highest caliber, including Gaye Adegbalola of Saffire, the Uppity Blues Woman, piano virtuoso Roddy Barnes, and blues woman Maria Woodford. And as youâll know when you hear her sing her songs, she is a true student of life in the world that surrounds her. Lucky us- we get the healing power of her shared passion and musical vision in a package that is as entertaining as it is uplifting.
