Kim Keating

Kim Keating is a Washington, DC-based emerging singer-songwriter whose songs are infused with a passionate sense of love, loss and the sublime joy of living life. Kims powerful and soulful vocal delivery is most often compared to fellow singer-songwriting influences, Norah Jones and Sade.
Born and raised in Little Rock, AR, Kim was exposed to jazz and gospel music at an early age. Her music - a blend of rhythmic piano, jazz and neo-soul undercurrents, reflects her unique musical upbringing. Saturday nights were spent at the local live music club, where eight-year-old Kim watched her nephew, Art Porter Jr., the late jazz saxophonist, perform with his father, Art Porter Sr., a renowned jazz pianist and accompanist for Carmen McCrae. Sunday mornings were spent in church, where Kim played the piano and sang in the choir with her family.
After high school, Kim put her musical talents on the back-burner, and pursued a different, more traditionally left-brain path: getting a job in New York on Wall Street, earning an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, and starting a successful consulting firm.
But Kims love of music never left her, even as she focused on her business career and family. During the years when she didnt perform, Kim funneled her creative energies into writing songs that told the complex stories of human emotions. She formed a band - SonicFlow - with her husband and a group of friends. Kim is SonicFlow's lead singer; the popular band performs in the Washington metropolitan area and plays many of Kim's original songs, as well as covers by a wide variety of artists.
Nothing excites Kim more than writing new material, singing her heart out on stage, and presenting her songs to fans who love music as much as she does.
