Bio
A Montreal native Mike Valiante started his labour of love in February 2003 as kin.
Prior to that he was in a band called hol’fader from 1993 to 2002. They garnered great press,
hailed as the new stone roses and fore comers in the indi rock movement.
They had a video on much music and musique plus and won top honors in chom’s L’esprit 96 battle of the bands (Montreal’s rock radio station).
In the present Kin has been writing a slew of new material ready for recording and is performing
them live in venues in and around Montreal.
Kin’s music is a fresh approach to urban folk. Lyrically, he deals with issues of trust, regret, death and the celebration of life. The first single “every move “ is a bluesy folk riff on acoustic guitar with a slowed down funk beat and blended with sweeping phsycadelic vocals accented with horns for added flavor. Musically it takes from mike’s roots in brit pop and New York’s underground scene. He’s been influenced by bands like the velvet underground, the beta band and the clash.
In hopes of releaseing an E.P. for September 2004. Kin fans can look forward to an intimate
and thought provoking recording that can be enjoyed by people from all walks of life.
