King Cotton has been a Los Angeles dance club staple since his Island Records 12” single Stick to the Grind became a huge KROQ hit which led to him opening for Talking Heads at the Hollywood Palladium. Besides having a long standing career as a solo act, he also was the co-founder and long standing lead singer with L.A.’s legendary Bonedaddy’s at the height of their popularity when they performed several songs from their album on national television including their much talked about performance with Bo Diddley on the Late Show.

King Cotton also achieved notoriety due to his appearance with John Cusack and Tim Robbins in the film Tapeheads. Most notable about his role as Roscoe, the Chicken and Waffles king, is his end-titles song "Roscoe's Rap", which has become a cult favorite on youtube. He also appeared in the film Blaze starring Paul Newman as Louisiana Governor Earl Long.

Besides past friendships with Bo Diddley & Freddie King, he lists Joe Strummer, John Fogerty, recent hall of fame inductee Steve Marriott and Dr. John as musical compadres.

Many, including Kid Rock, have been following in his footsteps by mixing rock with afro centric roots music but there is still only the one original King Cotton.

The current KING COTTON R&B driven rock band features King Cotton, lead vocal, Eric Gotthelf, bass and vocals, Bill Angarola, guitar, Will Kaplan, keyboards, Jerry Angel, drums and Mike Tempo, percussion.
